Good game, but not better than 2.

Ending doesn't ruin the game in my opinion.

The game is good over all but it gets dull at times but makes up for it with some pretty awesome bonus dungeons.

Honestly think it's pretty horrendous. Clunky combat with bad mechanics. Bland story. Bland characters.

I thought people were exaggerating when they talked about how bad that game is, because they do that for 3 a lot. 4 really is that bad.

Pretty blah all around for me, really.

I heard there's some sort of awful plot twist, but I tapped out at the difficulty spike that supposedly right before it. Didn't help that the game froze on me right at that time.

Until Maria showed up it was pushing towards being one of my favorite games ever, then it began to drift down.

Disc 2 pre-endgame stuff was a constant nosedive.

Endgame stuff was real fun, but majorly exposed magic's flaws.

The writing and voice acting absolutely slaughter my ability to replay the game because those things are super-important to me in games that allegedly try their hand at such things, but I enjoyed the gameplay my first time around.

I've never played 4 and I haven't played 3 since an optional boss kept on killing me two years ago.

SO3's alright, though definitely the weakest in the trilogy. SO1 is an underrated classic, and SO2 is one of the better games ever made.

Still waiting for them to make SO4.

I only played 3 and 4, but out of those two, 3 is better than 4.

3 is actually a good title.

4 is, well, not so much.

It's a very good game.

Out of the originals, 3 > 2 > 1 > 4. 3 and 2 are good. 1 is borderline unplayable as a game, though it is actually interesting to see the feature set that SO1 has on the SNES. 4 is actually pretty much unplayable. People say SO3 has bad mechanics because they can't wrap their heads around having two life bars and needing to balance them. SO4 ACTUALLY has bad mechanics.

Good game, really enjoyed the battle system and most of the characters. It hasn't particularly aged well, but eh. The twist was sort of lame, but it didnt' ruin the game for me. The last boss was super disappointing, that's the worst I can say about it.

Nel was a great character; probably one of my favorite female jrpg characters. Maria and Cliff were pretty good too.

I'd love to hear an explanation for this. The one "problem" with the original is that you can never have complete control over another character without your main sitting around doing nothing, but it's a great game with a neat battle system and beautiful graphics.

I've tried playing three Star Ocean games and was not a fan of any of them. So SO3 goes right in the "disappointments" column.

It's okay, but rather boring.
And so1 sucked. Bad battle system, worthless characters, only one good track, but pretty. Not nearly enough.

Good game. Ending ruins nothing. Plot twist is p.bad but it's not Lost ending levels of "invalidates everything that came before it" bad.

(PS star ocean 2 is a bad game)
