so am I the only one who can't really get into the the tournament stuff in Majikoi (on Yukie's route)?

It's all kind of too ridiculous for me, the power levels are all over the place and realistically within the universe there should be a huge risk of a bloody massacre happening and it being pretty much the biggest global catastrophe since a world war.

I'm cool with how powerful some of the characters are, but they're in the same competition as Capt, Gakuto, Yamato, and freaking Moro and I'm pretty sure a random bullet could have pretty much killed all of them and this would become the most depressing thing ever.

But ya this is pretty much the only complaint I have with Majikoi right now because when you have something this good any flaws really stand out. I'll stick to the slice of life stuff kthx

I finally got around to finishing some stuff from last season.

Amagami SS+ Plus - Was just barely above average. Anything good from it could've just been used in the original or as dvd/bluray specials.

Black Rock Shooter - Was decent, but had a bit too much loldrama for me. The fights were fun to look at though.

Highschool DxD - This was surprisingly good. I liked the action and comedy even though some of it was overused.

The only completed show from last season I need to finish now is Nisemonogatari.

Just watched Kuttsukiboshi, which was totally ridiculous. First ep was pretty normal yuri until TOTALLY OUT OF NOWHERE PLOT TWIST (it's predictable because it's anime, but it doesn't make any sense), then the second episode is just stupid. Then it starts getting more and more over the top and the stupid turns into awesome, but it's still stupid. So much wtf.

Sakamichi no Apollon OP - Play Ball
2/...0. ...buh? no... instrumentals or something, just 2 songs. that's it.

Play Ball - strangely catchy. if other songs are a mix of good to make something bad, this is a mix of a bunch of simple things to make something good. which is good because her voice is a little nasaly but it fits perfectly fine here. although the STOOOOOP AND TWIST is weird to hear, and i swear in a later one she's saying suck my DIIIICK though i assume that's supposed to be day. or hope. she sings rather quickly when she wants, which is half of why the chorus works as well as it does. i swear that i've heard the BGM for this song before though. still, it's actually quite pleasing to hear and... happy? happy enough i suppose. 7.5/10

Sakamichi no Melody - another steady, simple song to go with her. don't think i like this as much as the last one though, it just sorta sat there as background music for me. it's still a solid thing to listen to, it just has no real prescence or telling me to suck on things, y'know? overall, 6.5/10

Average: 7/10.
but it's seriously just these 2 songs. that's really lame.


Kuroko no Basketball OP - Can Do

Can Do - WE CAN DO IT. WE CAN DO ME. WE CAN DO IT. excellent. honestly, thanks to this OP i am now going to watch this show. who knows, maybe i'll like it as much as Cross Game in its non-Wakaba moments (because seriously i got tired of that). one of the big things that show had for it was some solid music, and if this is the 1st OP being fielded then it may be able to put the other game on defense. this song though, pretty rockin'. me likey pretty rockin'. 7.5/10

Love in shelter - slower paced rock? hell yeah. ....but... that constant riff is uh... very familiar. if you speed it up and tweak it a little bit i'm... pretty sure you'll get something similar to Rance's theme. yes, that theme. the title does not help. i am now going to forever consider this to be Rance's slow f*** theme, aptly named Love in Shelter. also, the chorus is familiar but in a good way again - it's a pretty constant beat for a chorus and has been used a number of times before. can't name any off the top of my head, but it's waaay too familiar. song is great stuff honestly. totally lovin' this track. the guitar solo by the 4 min mark is friggin' perfect. this is basically rock/country, japan style. ...also i'm pretty sure he told me to f*** someone now that it's sundown. awesome. song is fun. 9.5/10

Mesmerise - ....is... Gackt a part of this group? looking up the name it's... GRANRODEO. ...guess that explains why there's a country vibe on the earlier song. but no. they're a two-piece band made up of male VAs. the main singer of which has a pretty long list of roles of being bad guys, people in drama shows, and... one very notable standout:
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Kittan Bachika)
Kittan is in a rock band and sounds like Gackt. i feel this is important information.
also, the song itself is pretty damn good. if you didn't tell me that this was from an anime CD i would've assumed some growing in popularity visual kei group (i mean come on, it's called Mesmerise - you already KNOW there's engrish). great song really, dig the hell out of it. not as good as Love in shelter, but much more rockin' out as opposed to evening ra-- consensual activities. 8.5/10

definitely worth listening to - 3 songs + their instrumental versions, not a bad one and 2 great ones.

Medaka Box ED - Ohanabatake ni Tsuretette
2/1/2 split, remix of the OP is the 1.

Ohanabatake ni Tsuretette - ...i think this group is Japanese M2M. or at least, it starts sounding like one of theirs. easy on the ears and a bit of a christmasy vibe make it enjoyable to hear. 7/10

Shikkou! Hakoniwa Seitokai - uhh.... no, sorry, this mix ain't working. more pop than rock works. more rock than pop results in a song that does not work. not painful, too soft spoken for that. just bad instead. 3.5/10

-toybox remix- - not as good as the original i'm afraid. she's got a good voice, but it's very much so suited to simple songs. adding a goofy techno pop base isn't gonna help the song in any way. if, however, you made it a piano or strings version, you'd get a much better piece of music. so good singer, but bad combination. being a bit harsh on this but the song ain't half bad. just not half good either. thankfully it's kept mostly the same outside of the random change of the main background piece. 5.5/10

Average: 5.33/10


Saki side-A ED - SquarePanicSerenade
2/1/2, with the 1 being a remix of the OP.

SquarePanicSerenade - not at all impressed. i have heard this far too many times and each time my conclusion is the same: not at all impressed. it's not overly fun and weird, it's a pretty standard female group song in this style and... really amounts to nothing but that. standard mediocrity. however when you have standard medicority in this style it reaally doesn't work out. i'm not sure what part of this fails, but something's just... off. end result you get a kinda bad theme and i'm not entirely sure where the fault is - the singers are obviously those i've heard a dozen times before. must be the way it all got put toether i guess. i'm really not a fan of the background, which might be the answer. either way, it's a 4/10.

Futuristic Player - starts better, kinda dies down, still ends better. nothing to write home about, but nothing bad. and kinda enjoyable too. 5.5/10

SquarePanicSerenade Remix - of course the remix is better. it focuses on being more fun and just further makes me think it's really just the way everything got put together which made that song so lackluster. the remix meanwhile is fun... but the fun doesn't match the tone of the voices. so it's still pretty awkward, but it's a bit better. certainly enough to cross into the middle line. 5/10

Average: 5/10


Accel World OP - Chase the world
3/0. original, BURST LINK REMIX, and without Sheryl/May'n. so not an instrumental, but a karaoke.

Chase the world - so when i first heard this song i went 'man this song is pretty solid but nothing too exciting. but she's so damn familiar...' and then after seeing who sings it became kinda obvious. also i'm pretty sure she's saying chasing the world, but whatever, ENGRISH BABY (please engrish). not as good as her Macross Frontier stuff, but solid. 7/10.

Chase the world (BURST LINK Remix) - better than the original and i hope they use this in the actual show. this is one of those shows and songs where heavy synth fits far better than what was in the original, gotta be over the top and excessive with it. end result gets you this, which starts better, continues better, and ends better. putting it this way: if this song were in Macross Frontier, i wouldn't bat an eye. so that, in Accel World, better lead to some badass fights. 8/10.

Average: 7.5/10

Hyouka OP - Yasashisa no Riyuu
3/3 split. taking the bull by the horns here...!

Yasashisa no Riyuu - this is the OP, and it's a good song. i'm not sure i have anything bad to say, but it's not mindblowingly awesome or something (if you want that similar to this style, Kimi to Boku 2 is that way). steady, good, and enjoyable. pretty much the way things should be. 7.5/10

Komorebi iro no Kioku - actually just look to this song because this is gentler and better in all ways. for some reason this reminds me a lot of the Zombie 2 insert song that's on its single - it just has that similar feel for it. i don't know if this is gonna be used as an insert song or not, but i wouldn't be surprised as it's 1) good enough for the job, 2) already on this CD, and 3) is something that i can easily see fit in Hyouka. now if you'll excuse me i must sway to this song. the instrumental version of this is also really, really good. 9/10

Aozora no Kodou - and from SWAY TO THE BEAT we go to a peppy tune. her voice is too deep to be doing the whole kawaii desu cardcaptor sakura outfit, but this song starts with a tune out of it. this is a compliment - i do not want to hear that. she manages to bring it out of that and into something.... solid. i can't say it's great and i think more could've been done, but hey, it's solid work. 7/10

Average: 7.83/10
but they totally deserve the 8/10 level for putting 3 songs and their instrumentals in it dammit..!


Queen's Blade Rebellion ED - Future is serious
a... 2/1 technically but really just 1 song CD. the OP is done 3 times. original, remix, instrumental. the 2nd song is... a remix of the Freezing ED. which was meh. COLORS, the OP by Maria, was top tier. the ED? ehhh.

Future is serious - you know that complaint people have about techno being dumb, repetitive, and the same things said every time?
yeah, i'm pretty sure FUTURE IS SERIOUS is said more times than One More Time in its self-titled song. seriously this is ridiculous. it's CATCHY and i kinda like it, but how serious is your goddamn future that you need to repeat it over 80 times? still, catchy. but goddamn. 6/10.

Future is serious (Remix) - putting it this way, i honestly couldn't tell when this started until i looked at the list. calling this similar's an understatement, and the repeated FUTURE IS SERIOUUUS is a damn joke. i'm more interested in seeing how this song gets remixed into things than the song itself. though for that, we have a nice instrumental version of a song i can see belong in touhou and not bat an eye. 6/10

Kimi wo Mamoritai - Naked Remix - meh remix, meh song. i guess it's better than the original? not sure. did like the little rap in the middle so 5/10 seems fair.

Queen's Blade Rebellion OP - Inochi no Uta ga Kikoeru
2/2 split.

Inochi no Uta ga Kikoeru - different story than the ED, this is damn good stuff. immediately dug it and then it just kept going with awesome. her voice is a little weird and that keeps her away from Borderlands tier (out in a week), but it's still damn fine of a song. 8/10.

Izayoi no Tsuki no S***a de - different style not as good to her vioce, but it's still quite solid. eventually the voice gets on your nerves a bit, which brings the score down, and the instrumental ain't any good on its own. i guess this is the CD of a fanservice anime that makes me go 'why doesn't this suck.' 7/10

Cardfight Vanguard Asia Circuit Hen OP - LIMIT BREAK
2/2 JAM PROJECT split. i expect amazing titles.

LIMIT BREAK - i am not let down by title expectations. caps matters in them! JAM Project knows. this however isn't one of their best, though it's better than their last time doing a Cardfight Vanguard song. still nothing compared to their SRT: OG2 OP in MAXON (which is top tier stuff) but better than before. it's a song that you can... Jam to. 7/10

Fight! Fight! Fighting! - excellent title. unfortunately, not so excellent song. some good parts. a lot of meh parts. 6/10.

Average: 6.5/10


Zombie OP - ~Passionate~

~Passionate~ - the Zombie 2 OP isn't as good as Zombie 1, but it's still good enough. i hear it play and think 'okay i like this tune', jam a bit, then go 'damn it finished already?' which is generally a good thing. it's not having me go THIS IS GREAT but it has me liking it as it chugs along. solid track. 7.5/10

Signalize - this one's better. not by a crazy amount mind you, and i think i may grow to like the ED more than either. but this is still pretty great stuff, in a very similar style as the OP at that. it ain't a style i dislike to say the least. 8/10

Natsuiro Kiseki OP/ED - Non-stop road
2/2 split.

Non-stop road - A Sphere song, eh? guess this can't be bad. pretty catchy and makes me want to watch more AKB0048 because i can see this song playing while giant robots fly around in space shooting missiles with SONG POWER. god i love that show for the wrong reasons. or right, i'm honestly not sure. the song is good though, no problems here and i like it a decent amount. 7.5/10

Ashita he no Kaerimichi - enjoyable but kinda meh at the same time. just there mostly. guess that makes this one an easy call: 6/10.

3/0. just 3 songs and that's it. all different, weird.

Esoragoto - i... am going to have to get used to her voice, aren't i. i'm not sure that's possible. it's so.... nasaly. i can't help but feel irritated with this goddamn voice. the song seems otherwise okay, but nothing good, standout, or... anything. just there. painfully there. 3.5/10

My Girl - better song by not being as hyperactive and more low key. as such her voice isn't as grating and you get to enjoy a solo guitar more. huzzah. still not great, but certainly... dare i say it. enjoyable even. a song that works a bad voice? man, why is there no instrumental. sad part is this could be a top tier song if her voice was better. alas, she gets a 6/10.

Answer Song - an in between song. not so bad my ears oh god why. not this is enjoyable enough to listen. straight in between. which means a bit painful there. 4.5/10.

Been watching Fate/Stay Night the anime. It's kinda surreal, in how bad it is. I loved the original, and this doesn't feel like I'm watching the same thing. I like the ED though.

Other than that, I watched S2 of K-on sometime ago. It gets a lot of undeserved flak. The fact of the matter is, the chemistry between the five main characters is unlike any other show I've watched. The animation is crisp and full of detail and it perfectly captures what slice-of-life is. I teared up a little at the end, ****ing anime.

Sakamichi was indeed awesome. Concert scenes are always cool. I'm pretty sure this is going to be the end of any drama between Kaoru and Sen. At least I really hope so.
