Batman Annual and this issue were amazing.

Bringing back Thomas Wayne, Jr./Owlman after all this time was honestly not something I expected, and way better than when Morrison was hinting that Dr. Hurt was Thomas Wayne, Jr. instead.

And Mr. Freeze's schtick was becoming a serious crutch since that was the only thing anyone was ever willing to write about him and it was crippling him as a character after all these years of repeated motivation, no matter how good it originally was.

Morrison actually followed through with the insanity and didn't really f*** with the canon while also managing to strengthen the Batman mythos

Snyder seems to be just wanting to copy that but has resorted to one of the lamest PLOT TWISTS of storytelling

and sorry, i haven't read anything about Owlman from the pre-new52 alternate universe so there was no "mindblown" moment for his reintroduction

to be fair, everything else was actually fine for me and i really liked this book from the start to the last issue UNTIL THE REVEAL

i will take this back if the conclusion actually states otherwise! still doesn't take away the fact that this does feel like a retread of Batman RIP and it will even feel more like RIP if the big twist does turn out to be not true >_>

as for the Annual, just because Freeze's old origin story was being repeatedly used by inferior writers, changing it into just making him into another typical sociopath certainly doesn't make it better

what can we even expect from that change? freeze still has his obsession with nora! but he's just deluded! and he's been crazy since he was a kid! how sad (and not in the good way)

IMO I prefer Freeze's new way and find it more sad. He could have gone about with Nora much better if that was the real reason then he ever did IMO. There is no %$#^ing way crime was truly his best option to find a cure for her.

There have been many interviews about this, it's definitely legit.

And I don't really see how it can be hack writing when Synder's Batman has been consistently better than Morrison's throughout its entirety!

And honestly Freeze's old status-quo kind of made him an unsympathetic hypocrite.

I'm mad about Freeze's new origin. His original one was perfectly fine the way it was, the problem was no one using him correctly. Arkham City did. He's a villain at times, but on the flip side he can be an ally. It just depends who's poking at him.

Now he's just another psychopath. As if Batman's rogue gallery doesn't have enough of those.

Having never read any comics before the New 52, the reveal in Batman #10 made me laugh. I also beat Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition a few days ago and will be getting Arkham City GOTY Edition eventually. The character bios in AA made me curious about a lot of Batman villains I'd never really seen before. What are some Batman trades that have good villain stories? I guess that's technically what I'm looking for.

I've got to say that I really like Freeze's new personality. He's not quite sympathetic any longer, no. But I think his old origin had been played out, and there's no longer any sort of sympathy there for Freeze. At least now there's a new twist and you can actually have some new stuff emerge from it.

And yeah, Green Lantern's ending blew me away. I told you I was the hypest for it now! I thought it was very effective. Although the lolrandom car drive was silly, I was back into it with William Hand killing himself knowing he'd just be brought back by the Black Ring.

I liked Knight and Squire but I get it's an acquired taste with a very distinctive writing style. If you're not British or aren't very familiar with British culture it can be a bit hard to read.

Batman ey, well ha yeah that reveal and the plot point in general was cliche, sure, cheesy? Absolutely. But still, highly entertaining, it was an unexpected direction to take the story. Let's just hope Snyder doesn't play that card a billion more times, and hopefully this doesn't lead other writers to think about playing similar cards.

Me, I'm like hey the past is fun, but let's write about the future. This arc is a well done bit of retcon past fun shenanigans, but let's hope he's past that soon. Still, this run has been solid good stuff, I'm just not sure how much it's done to build the future of the title. Especially when the only regular supporting character is Alfred, who rocks, and the occasional Nightwing cameo. Gordon has especially been conspicuously absent, for the most part. And how about Catwoman?

As back to basics Batman badassery it is great, but hopefully less flashbacks are involved in future arcs. Very reminiscent of Hush in some ways. And more time for some character's having relationships with Batman would be good.

Oh I forgot all about this. I remember going to check it out and then I just....didn't.
I have to check up on New Deadwardians too.

But yeah I'll agree that Cornell's Stormwatch was extremely lacking, but Knight and Squire and Demon Knights was/is good stuff. I gotta get caught up on Stormwatch, too. I haven't paid any attention since the end of the first arc because it was so mediocre. But now it's crossing over with RL. :|

Ravagers is way better than GI. Combat. But not as good as the Uknown Soldier backup.

The Culling was indeed terrible, though.

I actually don't think it's terrible, but it's the most generic by the numbers Superman book I've ever read, so Lobdell's ridiculousness is a welcome change to me.

Aquaman is a great book right now, I'd say the only weak point it has would be Meera. not that I dislike the character or her relationship to Aquaman, but Johns is trying way too hard to give her a "push" when she's really not that great of a character. Aquaman himself is a badass and I'd be much more entertained just reading about him.

The #0 issue is specifically about Skitter and Bunker and their origins if that helps!

You shouldn't be coming to Lobdell books for long sprawling plans, though! He's pretty open in his interviews about never planning more than a month or two ahead of time on specific plot points.

1) Shes.. well basically Thor but not as key to her universe, but with the Greek pantheon. And since Greek pantheon> Norse, its a better book. Top 3 every month for me.

2.) Dunno bout flash but Aquaman has been pretty badass.

4.) Legion of Superheroes and Justice League International/ JLDark are very good. Didnt much like the recent Secret Avengers, Justice League, Legion Lost, Ravagers, or Batman Inc.
