8. Rock Lee Could've been higher if his amount of appearence wasn't heavily reduced in part 2, but whatever he's so awesome. He can be hillarious, and at the same time very serious. He goes through intense training with a great willpower. One of the best battles in the series is Lee vs. Gaara, and it's definitely mostly Lee, who's the reason for that. He pulls out move after move, we're talking total comeback factor. Apparently he had insanely heavy weights around his legs, then this lotus stuff, that keeps getting more and more incredible. I think drunk Lee also deserves a mention for being both funny and amazing at the same time.
7. Sasuke Alright, I really want to put him higher, but I don't wanna put anyone above him any lower, so this is where he is. He's amazing the whole way through, he in which kind of way changes serveral times. Early on he's amazing for being the smart one on team 7. He gave Naruto food back in the beginning, he quickly figured out the point of the first part of the exam. He was great at figuring out which Naruto's were real and which were not. Then starting with Orochimaru's curse he becomes awesome in a different way. Now pretty much the whole plot is featured around Sasuke, even if he's not there very much, and it results in amazing arcs like the Sasuke Retrieval arc, and other good times like the Sasuke and Sai arc. Ultimately the brotherly bond or rivalry him and Naruto has is one of the main attractions the series has and it's a very great one too!
6. Naruto 6 might be a bit too low for the main character, but yeah, this is where he goes. I'm amazed by how there's always some new amazing stuff with Naruto he can use in battles, he's hillarious in that dumb kind of way shounen main characters often are and that's always enjoyable. He also has his big ideals and willpower that is bound to make you like him. Of course he gets some amazing battles too. My personal favorites are against Sasuke and against Pain.

5. Itachi This guy, keeps being better and better everytime he's there. You might've thought Sasuke would finally be able to defeat him near the end to fulfil that dream, but all that takes a dramatic turn around, when the truth about Itachi is revealed and that along with his dead is possibly the best the series has provided so far, suddenly Itachi is not that bad guy anymore, but rather Sasuke gets that role. Even when he is resurrected after such a big thing, he's not any less awesome.
4. Gaara Gaara is like the only character introcuded in the chuunin exams that actually gets the deserved amount of appearence afterwards, and he's awesome all the way, not to mentione one of the most developed characters the series has is him. from the insane badass boy that one tails had made him, with an awesome backstory and awesome fights with Lee and Naruto, to be a calm Kazakage who got control of his stuff and is even the commander of the entire Shinobi army. Watching Gaara grow has throughout the series has really been incredible.

Gaara's really great before the time skip. He has awesome fights with Lee and Naruto and his back story is good enough I guess. The time skip isn't too kind to him unfortunately, but when he shielded the whole city it was pretty cool.
4. Shikamaru
Shikamaru has always been great. His battles are fun because of his strategical style and I like his interactions with Asuma and Chouji. He also has a harem.
3. Jiraiya First thing to bring on the table is his funny perverted moments and discussions with Naruto, solid stuff. But he's also the trainer and part of the great inspiration of Naruto, and really awesome with all the frog stuff. His battle with Pain rocked and even more did the conclusion of his life an his books and the stuff with Minato. His legacy will live on.

2. Kakashi Kakashi has an amazing attitude. Just look at him, total badass. Pulling that Shiringan in the otherwise covered eye rocks, sadly this was outplayed when Danzou was introcuced. He has the best backstory in the series, seroiously what an unexpected and awesome surprise to gave us just before the timeskip. He's great enough to be the current first choice of a sixth Hokage and man I still haven't gotten over that Tsunade couldn't have waited at least a few more seconds with waking up.
1. Shikamaru Thus we have out number one. Wouldn't have thought that lazy guy of these rookie 9 I was quickly introcuded to back pre-exam would end up being my favorite character, that's for sure. He truly started becomming great against Temari, that was an awesome battle. Temari is solid opponent and it wans't just Gaara that was seen as super strong, and you love it when some underdog does well. He plans out the whole battle in a few seconds as he wouldn't even battle had Naruto not pushed him down. Then as the cool guy he is, after he has one the battle, he forfeits the match, not to hurt a woman. Even here, I didn't expect Shikamaru to be the only guy actually passing the exam but that was when I really started seeing him as a favorite. This was a new side to him. He really took this mission seriously and thought up tactics in no time. Always great to see the strategizing of Shikamaru.
Shikamaru probably does get the deserved amount of apparence in part 2, but I'd love to see him even more. After the part where Asuma dies I finally had him surpassing Kakashi. You know this guy respected his teacher as he smokes for a while until he has killed the guy that killed his teacher, even though he hates smoking, just to keep Asumas spirir alive until revenge has been taken. Bonus props for quitting that so easily btw. It was also awesome how he finished the match before the backup team of Sakura and Sai arrived, so badass. Shikamaru is among the highest in Konoha, so why he's not a Jounin is a mystery, but then again Naruto is still a Genin, and he is probably stronger than everyone by now. Does these exams ever happen? What annoyed me was that Temari had become a Jounin when Shikamaru had already proved himself surperior, but I guess he really didn't care, he might even not have attempted at that exam. As Asuma said during his dying words, Shikamaru would be able to become Hokage if he wanted, and we can all agree it's badass to not want a great status like that out of pure laziness.

Aw man I forget about this for a little bit and you guys race for the finish line.
Alright then TOP 5 for me time.
5. Shikamaru
Everyone loves this guy. A genius who just wanted to be normal. He's got dignity, leadership skills, and a cool story with the whole Asuma thing. His shadow skills could have been boring as hell but he owns them. Gets a good amount of screentime and deserves it the most out of all the old Genin squads. ctes and swordz covered enough.
4. Itachi
Everything was great. From his mysterious badass initial role until his fated showdown with Sasuke, the build up was big and the payoff was bigger. A true patriot, he planned out so much for the sake of his country, even for things after his death. He also set off the greatest development in Sasuke, turning into a great character as well. Now that he's revived, his death hasn't cheapened at all, getting to make amends one more time, and maybe give Sasuke the development he needs. Can't believe how good this turned out to be.
Drunk Lee is amazing and his fight is one of the best in the series. Lee's the true hardworking hero of this series. I wish he got more fights since I'm a much bigger fan of the martial arts fights in the series compared to the jutsu spam fights.
1. Hinata
Hinata's a bit too shy at times, but I've always liked her. She's really kind and also works really hard since she lacks the natural genius talents some others have in the series. Dat confession was great. Too bad nothing ever happened with it, not even Naruto thinking about it ever since he was too preoccupied with his loser backstabbing friend.
Aw yeah da Sauce. Always entertaining to watch. He started off cool enough, though a bit cliched. I feel his relationship with Naruto isn't really developed enough, and his reasons for leaving aren't that fleshed out (I guess CURSE MARK is good enough) but everything he's done since Part II started is gold. Kishimoto is just better at writing villains, as evident by my list being full of them. And Sasuke is no exception. That DOUBLE SPREAD of his face is excellent. His emotional rollercoaster since killing Itachi has been a joy to see, with his tearful regret and then his crazed look when he vows to take down all of Konoha. He goes off the deep end when he really was going to kill Sakura and stabs through Karin. It's a shame his crew sucks and doesn't get enough screentime, as they could have played off him pretty well, and vice versa. His fights are always the best, and I can't wait till he joins the war.
2. Naruto
A good overall guy. He was annoying in Part I, but that was part of his childish nature in the time of his life. It's pretty amazing how much he grew in two years. Even by the end of Part I he was acting a bit more grown up. Now he's pretty badass, being very direct (but not in a dumbass way) with everyone he meets, setting people straight. I think his conversation with Nagato was a little cheap, but his recent stuff with the Kyuubi is cool. And I guess this is sort of self-fulfillment because he is the main character, but the fact that he's so strong and really pulls through when they need him does make him more likeable in the end. (As opposed to all of Konoha who rolled over and died when Pain attacked). He had his share of losses and hardships in Part I, so it's nice to see him be a winner and be liked, regardless of why. Depending on how the story goes, he'll be my default top guy.
Really love this guy. His introduction as the newbie under Kisame is hilarious, and it makes him all the more awesome when he just turns out to be the mastermind behind Pain. And then he goes off and claims to be Madara, which is awesome because you're like "wtf Madara acts like that!?" and then that turns out to be all a ruse too. The Moon's Eye plan is cool. I always liked the bad guy who wants to create peace throw dominating power. It's a nice human condition type theme, referencing the kind of idealism would be dictators and totalitarian governments would have. Of course, if that's his real plan. This is guy is so full of mysteries that we're never really sure what he is and what he's after. Why did he claim to be Madara after all? What does Kabuto know? These questions will ultimately determine if he really ends up as my favorite, but for now, I sure do love whenever he appears.
1.Shikamaru 2. Jiraiya 3t. Killer Bee 3t. Rock Lee 5t. Kakashi 5t. Gaara
These were the 6 characters in common of our three lists. Using a point system where you got +1 if you were number one and +21 if you were not on the list, these were the rankings. It is possible to not be on all lists and still beat someone who is, but that didn't happen here, as Naruto and Sasuke/Itachi were close, but no cigar.
I have lab reports to do, and this was the more fun option.
Sure he has some really, really lame moments(hyper-ventilation comes to mind), one of my top 3 characters. The again, Naruto the manga doesn't really have any super great characters. Jiraiya would probably be the only one I would put in that category.
Itachi was cool, but my God, lately he has became so bad. The guy can do no wrong.
1.Shikamaru 2. Jiraiya 3t. Killer Bee 3t. Rock Lee 5t. Kakashi 5t. Gaara

oh hey those top 3 just happened to be my top 3, just in a different order
1. Gaara 2. Minato 3. Deidara/Sasori 5. Killer Bee 6T. Itachi (overpowered or not he's awesome) 6T. Kakashi
I dunno I thought about it for like 5 seconds. Hidan, Danzo and Shikamaru are amazing as well and could probably be in there somewhere depending on my mood
edit: oh yeah Pain too. In fact put him above Itachi/Kakashi
Yay Vivi! Lol Zoro. Good thing you got a heacy drinker around so that he can save your ass, before falling asleep himself. Luffy being reckless always fun, time for some action next time. Hopefully Zoro will meat Tashigi soon as well.
