Time for one of my favorite battles, maybe not a particularly tough one but it is one of my favorites, the laser-eye Battle.

Notes: I handle this battle differently every single time I play. This time I sent the entire force to the top of the path and waited till the Laser Eye to attack. Except Amon and Balbaroy, I sent them ahead to try and get the Pegasus Knights. Well it worked Balbaroy took a massive critical hit and well that was all they wrote on him. Amon got the kill fortunately. After the Laser-Eye attack, I charged and swept most of the enemies. And actually killed the Silver Knight left.

So I started chapter 4 got all the new weapons that are needed and that was simple. After the battle, I got Kokichi,Vankar and Jogurt . And now Pelle goes in for the newly dead Balbaroy.

Notes: You know I didn’t think that this battle was going to be hard. It started out kinda difficult but I blamed that on me promoting everyone at the start of this chapter. I figured out its true difficulty when I had my first causality, Amon. The poor girl didn’t have a chance with the Artillery. It blew her away but then I was getting close to the end of the battle so I sent Arthur in for the kill. Well he didn’t do the job. Unfortunately for me Elliot was next and so was Arthur. Max went in and slaughtered the General (even after he gained HP) and won us the battle with the most causality yet.

My Anri died too =(. I thought she was durable enough to take a single zombie hit. Nope. I was able to get out of that battle without any other casualties, at least.

On the laser eye battle now. Benched Gong to see if either of the birds leveled well. They didn't (Amon's stat gains for level 10: nothing.). Guess I'll end up replacing them with Kokichi/Pelle.

I got to recruit Guntz and Domingo before I parted Pao for the next battle. That was perfect because I will NOT be using Vankar or Jogurt any time soon. Except I found Kokichi is going to fit better than Guntz.

I hate the boat stuff… So filler. ANYWAYS I got through the next two battles with easy. It was the third one that actually hurt my party. So it is the one I will write about. The force and the dead were the same for all three battles.

It's one thing to lose mages, it's another thing to lose the flying supertank who draws aggro for some reason and also happens to be the best mage in the game. Domingo is the best.

My last run was similar to LotM's. I tried to level everyone, and used whoever my lowest level characters were. I stopped playing after I got Adam, and realized I'd have to level him up. Jogurt>Adam.

Your mages that weren't hideously underleveled died pretty quickly. Considering Alef joins late, and is about as durable as Domingo without a single level...

Edit: While I'm posting, might as well update my run. On the first ship battle now. Nobody died between the laser eye battle and it. Decided to use the ship battle to get all the characters I'm not using up to level 12, and promote them in case I need future back-up. Earnest immediately died to three bat attacks (one a double attack). Whoops.

Notes: This battle goes pretty simply and then we go to the Darahans and the second High Priest. I sent Guntz up to kill the second of the two Darahans and he did. But Kane had different plans and Guntz was added to my list. And then I was getting down to work Kane was almost dead but then the worst thing happened. Zylo, freaking Zylo, got Desouled! Are you freaking kidding me?! UGH!!!!!!! I am so mad he was my MVP!!

It's his High HP. Most of the people I lost except Zylo had low HP numbers when they died and got killed by magic or something close the same number of damage.

As long as keep casualties to a minimum, I think you'll do just fine for the rest of the game.

This topic of yours inspired me to play some Shining Force III Scenario 3: Bulzome Rising over the last few days, nice. It's a New Game+ file that I'm using and my main character is now ridiculously overpowered, by Shining Force standards. Off the top of my head, the stats for him are:

Level 1
(The main character is able to restart his innovator class and get the stat bonus again, and is able to relevel all over again, after a certain battle.)

But after the battle I did get Alef and Torusa and the both went into the party and Torusa replacing Gong, who at this point was being useless.

Got everyone to 12/1. After leveling, I replaced Mae with Vankar (who might be my 3rd best character, behind Domingo and Guntz), Kokichi with Amon, and Luke with Gort

Lowe died to the boss master mage following the ship battle. It's a mage, I'm sure it's physical attacks won't do much! *OHKO* oh =(. Gong went in for him. No more casualties until the the Kane battle. I plugged a few bench guys in hoping Kane would target them instead of my important characters. Lyle died to a golem OHKO (the only loss other than Anri I'm actually upset about. I planned on replacing Diane with him, no such luck), and Ken sacrificed himself to beat Kain. Now on the the most boring battle in the game!

Current force: Max, Vankar, Pelle, Gort, Guntz, Amon, Gong, Khris, Diane, Domingo, Tao, Zylo

Dead: Hans, Arthur, Anri, Earnest, Lowe, Lyle, Ken

Don't think I'm going to bother with Bleu. Definitely going to replace someone with Musashi (Diane, maybe?), and I'll probably replace Gong with Torasu no matter how underleved he is.

I'm playing with no grinding (outside of getting unused characters caught up)/resetting for stat gains, so Arthur wasn't going to be useful. Earnest might have been better (damned double attacks), but my Vankar turned out great anyway. ShF1's RNG can be silly like that.

Speaking of tough breaks, I lost Khris to a sniper double attack in the Mishaela battle. I poured a bunch of defense potions onto her, but I guess those didn't help =(. Gong (who has turned out terrible as usual) is now my only healer. At least I got the white ring in the same battle. Amon also died (Ohkoed by the boss. One more point of HP or defense would have saved her), but she wasn't really pulling her weight anyway. Musashi and Balbaroy (Level 12/1. Dead bird flying) go in for them.

Balbaroy got killed by something or other at battle 23. He was replaced by Torasu.

Diane died to a Chaos double laser attack, which she was in position to take because an Iceworm put her to sleep. Alef goes in for an uneventful battle 25, then rests again as Hanzou joins the force. No one died in the Pre-Ramladu battle. The Ramladu battle saw two people die; Gong, who was killed by robots before he could even move, and Tao, who was horrendously overkilled (four times her max HP damage? Something like that.) by Ramladu. I thought he didn't move from his starting position. I was wrong. Alef and Luke go in. Both were too weak to take a single hit from anything, but at least they had magic (Luke via the second Atlas axe I acquired)

Lost Hanzou in the Colossus battle. Made the mistake of putting him in a spot where both a Chimera and Blue dragon could hit him. I was left with an open spot, and a bunch of character who couldn't break defense and/or couldn't take a single hit. The best idea was to take someone with 7 move, who could hang at the back of the force, use healing seeds, then use heal rains against the dragon. I had two characters with 7 move on the bench. I could have used Mae, but why would I do that?



Jogurt time.

I made it past Darksol with little trouble. Onto the final boss. I'm not worried about casualties (besides Max, of course. He stayed the hell out of Dark Dragon's way, and just focused on killing skeletons) anymore, and it's a good thing, because there were a lot of them. No one died killing the first head (thanks to Jogurt keeping everyone at full health with his 3 healing rains), but the left head was a different story. First, Musashi (who I considered practically unkillable) died to a Desoul 2. Gort was next, killed in one hit by Bolt 4. I unintentionally knocked him down to 1 HP, at this point I knew what had to be done.

Second head down. Yogurt ring acquired.

Alef and Luke were killed by skeletons as I transitioned to the final head. It killed Pelle with a double physical attack, and Torasu with something after a skeleton wiped out most of his HP. Despite all the deaths, I managed to get him down to 11 HP. Guntz attacks, 2 HP, Domingo attacks, 1 HP, Jogurt attacks. Final head is murdered by hamster shaking. MVP Jogurt stands victorious.

And that Ramladu+robots fight is so annoying. I've gotta send a couple characters up to him pretty much just to die or he charges down while I'm fighting the robots and kills everybody. Sucks.

My only regret is not killing the center head with Jogurt as well =(.

I've never seen Ramladu run down the stairs before. After Tao died I had everyone regroup below the stairs, and he just moved back to his original spot.

Going into the Colossus battle in which I thought I was a very broken battle. So I dealt with the Blue Dragons and Chimeras with what I like to call the fortress method I put the fighters up front and healers and weaklings in the middle. Before this battle I took out Kokichi for Vankar because, for the next part I sent Vankar up baiting in all the enemies. It worked Vankar died at level 9 and I made mixed meat out of the villains here. I spilit the party up here. And we beat down the Ice Fire Colossuses. However, due to low HP, I lost Torusa to the Lightning Colosuss and that was it for this fight.

Now I have been playing Shining Force for a long time and one thing I still know for sure is that the Darksol fight is easy and I proved here again by beatin the Darksol fight without and casualties. I did this fight by splitting up my party, and I took this battle by storm.

well here's the deal. If you haven't noticed Gort, Ken, and Mae have been untouchable for me in the game. So the three of them took on the left head with the company of Alef. We killed the Skeleton and Alef stood there for the entire battle. She was kinda useless after that head was gone. The rest of the force took out the last head and it was okay. The middle head was a group effort and this is where I lost some good fighters. Hanzou, Bleu, Diane, and Kokichi were all killed to a Demon Breath because there HP was exactly dominant. Gort did a ton of damage in the end but Max got the killing attack.

So in the end the final dead are:

Awesome. Now focus extra hard on protecting Kazin like that, and you'll have a killer sorcerer on your hands in no time!

Funny that we didn't end up with any of the same characters surviving outside of Max, Mae (who I stopped using after promotion), and Jogurt (who you didn't use, rendering your run invalid)

I think Ouch actually has slightly better AI. Super has higher enemy stats. Every FE run I've done on super died when the damned Bow Riders show up. One hit kill everything vulnerable, kill mostly anything if they get a lucky shot in, and in the Lemon battle they start on grass tiles nearby while you start in the forest and can barely move. Then you get to fight Lemon.

Let's try hard. I don't think I've ever actually played hard.

Also, I usually let Peter/Lemon be immortal even in FE runs, just because it feels like it makes sense <_<.
