It involves decisions that I can't really predict aughhhh (blogfaqs below)

I want to take a 100 dollar test to become licensed to be a Security Guard, but while the module information seems easy enough on a surface level I just know the actual test will expect me to know which bullet point on which section of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that I can find reason C for arresting someone committing crime Z.

And I can't find any information on what the test is like so I'm left wondering if I'm putting in way too little work and I should memorize the whole 200 page manual, or if I'm putting in way too much work and I just need to know the answers to basic-level questions like the ones included in the manual for practice, which I've been acing even before reading the pertaining section.

This is a serious problem, guys. My future as an unambitious Security Guard is at stake.

I took the DPSST test we have here in the states and it was easy as hell. I took a 2-hour class on it where we browsed through the book and I think I missed one question. Shouldn't be too difficult...

Is that any help? It looked relevant, but I know nothing of the topic. Bing provides some similar results for searching "Canadian Security Guard Test Guide", so you may want to try searching that yourself and see if any better links come up.

That actually is helpful. I live in Alberta but I bet a lot of the regulations are similar, and it's better than the jack **** I've found on Google myself (my Google-fu is notoriously weak). Thanks!

And Menji, what's worrying me is that the optional course leading up to my test is 40 hours. I read the whole manual in three hours total and I understood all of it but I couldn't go into the really detailed specifics on which numbered law allows me to take which action... basically if it wants me to have memorized six different laws and all the information within them, I couldn't do that. If it wants me to know the gist of when those laws apply to the point that I could look them up in two minutes if I ever needed to, I've got that down already. Augh.

EDIT: And just to be clear, by 'law' I mean, like, the six page kind written in legalese with numbered sections and subsections. Not 'murder is illegal' style simplicity.

I won't even be allowed to use weapons, this whole thing feels really overblown and unnecessarily complicated if my worst fears on the test come to pass, but I guess that's the law for you.

What I'm reading now is that it's mostly situational questions though. That's good, at least. Just hope it's also mostly multiple choice, then I'm basically guaranteed to pass.

Lol 100 bucks. I'm a security guard in Ontario, it's 80 for us, and lasts two years now.

As for our test, it was an absolute joke.
