This contest makes me wonder, "OK, why the f*** isn't Sableye Dark/Rock?" It doesn't seem very ghastly at all, and with all those gemstones in its body it seems like it would be more of a Rock-type.
With that being said, I'm probably going to support the Geodude, Kabuto and Aron families, the meteorites, Regirock, Omastar, Relicanth. Yes, I like Relicanth for some dumb reason.
EDIT: Thre's a whole bunch of stuff I forgot in that post, so it's basically free-for-all in my case.
XIII_rocks posted... Basically every time I type "Rhyperior" my finger drifts towards the "n" instead of the "r". That has to be a sign.
Yep. Hyperion was the Greek Sun God if I'm not mistaken. Rhyperior doesn't quite have a fire motif, but it has DEM CANNON ARMS!, which kind of fits. Rename it Rhyperion, make it look less like a fresh steamed turd, and Rhyperior would be a top 20 pokémon for me. I mean it already has the beastly stats and bosslike moveset to be godly. It just lacks the look and the name. >_>
I just looked it up to avoid being corrected twice in one day, and he was actually a Titan, not a God- Titans were even greater than Gods (even though they got their collective asses whooped by them). He did reside over light, and the sun though.
I don't even care what it's based off - though it being a titan kind of fits. It's just like
RHYPERION.
That said I love Rhyperior too, so. They are both "F*** YEAH <name>" names in my book. Helps that Rhyperior is a "F*** YEAH" pokemon like Krook or Darmanitan or Charizard

Arcanine Samurott Krokorokorokorokorok (I actually like Waruvial more than Krookodile >_>) HounDOOM Braviary Alakazam Camerupt Cacturne Staraptor Serperior <_<
New subject! Anyway, I finished the generation stats for the Psychic and Fire contests if anybody's interested. If nobody's interested then I'll stop as those took a little while to do.
Yeah, Psychic was definitely the contest with the most screwed up results... but I figured I'd start there as it was the first one held entirely at B8. But here they are, for you reading pleasure.
Psychic
Winner: Gen II (Slowking)
Key: Generation | Number in Top 10 (Pokemon) | Expected number in Top 10 | Difference
Expected number in the top 10 was simply determined by how many Pokemon the generation had participating in that particular contest. For example, since Gen II had 20% of the total participants in the Psychic contest, it's expected that they would have 2 Pokemon in the top and bottom 10. The difference is how many Pokemon actually made the top/bottom 10 versus what was expected.
Top 10 Breakdown Gen I | 2 (Mew, Kadabra) | 2 | 0 Gen II | 5 (Slowking, Lugia, Espeon, Smoochum, Wobbuffet) | 2 | +3 Gen III | 3 (Gardevoir, Chimecho, Metagross) | 3 | 0 Gen IV | 0 | 1 | -1 Gen V | 0 | 2 | -2
Bottom 10 Breakdown Gen I |1 (Jynx) | 2 | -1 Gen II | 0 | 2 | -2 Gen III | 7 (Beldum, Medicham, Claydol, Baltoy, Meditite, Deoxys, Deoxys D) | 3 | +4 Gen IV | 1 (Chingling) | 1 | 0 Gen V | 1 (Woobat) | 2 | -1
Generation Breakdown:
Gen I Top performer: Mew (2nd 98th percentile) Worst performer: Jynx (67th 7th percentile) Average placement: 30.71 (58th percentile)
Gen II Top performer: Slowking (1st 100th percentile) Worst performer: Unown (59th 18th percentile) Average placement: 20.8 (72nd percentile)
Gen III Top performer: Gardevoir (6th 93rd percentile) Worst performer: Deoxys - Defense (72nd 0th percentile) Average placement 40.25 (45th percentile)
Gen IV Top performer: Mime Jr. (17th 77th percentile) Worst Performer: Chingling (63rd 13th percentile) Average placement: 41.55 (43rd percentile)
Gen V Top performer: Victini (12th 85th percentile) Worst performer: Woobat (65th 10th percentile) Average placement: 40.63 (44th percentile)
Gen I actually performed about where you'd expect, placing exactly as many Pokemon in the top ten as it should have. It had a light presence in the bottom ten, but was still there. Still had an overall higher average though. Gen III took the brunt of the hit, getting a decent amount in the top ten, but consisting of almost all of the Pokemon in the bottom ten, which accounts for its low average. Gen IV (why the hell was Mime Jr its top performer?) and V were the ones who got the biggest shaft, neither getting any Pokemon in the top ten, and all of their others just doing kind of okay. The psychic contest was pretty much ruled by Gen II, who had over half of the top ten, including three of the top four. Nobody was even close to the bottom ten (Unown was a good 4 spots above that line), and their Pokemon in general tended to have high placements. So if there was any bias in this contest, it was definitely in Gen IIs favor. Then again, with the supreme amount of alts present... well, that explains a lot.
Smoochum making top ten is awesome btw. Best baby right up there with Elekid, Pichu, and Munchlax. Could always use more love. <3
Chimecho making that far was pretty laughable though.
But whatever, it all took place on B8, and if it was going to be redone at all it needed to be after all the others were at least hosted. Leaving it up to vote with the others that hadn't even started on B8 would've been stupid.
Key: Generation | Number in top/bottom ten | Number expected | Difference
Top 10 Breakdown Gen I | 5 (Ninetales, Charizard, Arcanine, Rapidash, Ponyta) | 3 | +2 Gen II |3 (Typhlosion, Quilava, Houndoom) | 2 | +1 Gen III | 0 | 1 | -1 Gen IV | 0 | 1 | -1 Gen V | 2 (Volcarona, Chandelure) | 3 | -1
Bottom 10 Breakdown Gen I | 0 | 3 | -3 Gen II | 1 (Magby) | 2 | -1 Gen III | 1 (Numel) | 1 | 0 Gen IV | 3 (Magmortar, Monferno, Heatran) | 1 | +2 Gen V | 5 (Heatmor, Simisear, Darumaka, Pansear, Pignite) | 3 | +2
Generation Breakdown:
Gen I: Top performer: Ninetales (1st 100th percentile) Worst performer: Magmar (39th 22nd percentile) Average placement: 13.33 (75th percentile)
Gen II: Top performer: Typhlosion (4th 94th percentile) Worst performer: Magby (48th - 4th percentile) Average placement: 21.4 (58th percentile)
Gen III: Top performer: Blaziken (17th 67th percentile) Worst performer: Numel (43rd 14th percentile) Average placement: 29.17 (43rd percentile)
Gen IV: Top performer: Infernape (18th 65th percentile) Worst performer: Heatran (49th 2nd percentile) Average placement: 37.8 (25th percentile)
Gen V: Top performer: Volcarona (8th 86th percentile) Worst performer: Pignite (50th 0th percentile) Average placement: 31.19 (38th percentile)
Okay yeah, Gen I bias in full force here. It makes up half of the top ten, none of them ended up in the bottom ten, and it has a ridiculously high average placement. In its defense though, Gen I was excellent for fire types. Gen II also had its fair share of favorable results, although not nearly as much as Gen I (or how well it did in Psychic). Gen III had nothing in the top ten, but only one in the bottom ten. So (with only six fire types), they all finished within a fairly tight group. Gen IV got the biggest shaft, where 3 of its six participants landing in the bottom ten, combined with a very low average placement, and no top tens. Gen V fared better here than in Psychic, getting two top tens, but making up half of the bottom ten. Still, its average placement was much higher than IV's, and not too far off of III's.
Thanks for doing the stats, star! They're quite interesting.
Psychic: lol results Fire: Gen I placed the highest not only due to nostalgia alone, but because it really started the type right by having lots of awesome Pokemon.
Do you plan on doing this for the remaining types? It'd at least keep us entertained before we start Rock.
Especially lolmagmar steak! And yes, I do plan on finishing the remainder of them (the ones we did entirely at B8), although if you want it done before the Rock type starts I'll have to post most of them in succession. Still, I have the next one done now, so...
Water
Winner: Empoleon (Gen IV)
Key: Generation | Number in top/bottom ten | Number expected | Difference
Top 10 Breakdown Gen I | 5 (Lapras, Vaporeon, Squirtle, Starmie, Blastoise) | 3 | +2 Gen II | 2 (Suicune, Lanturn) | 2 | 0 Gen III | 1 (Sharpedo) | 3 | -2 Gen IV | 1 (Empoleon) | 1 | 0 Gen V | 1 (Dewott) | 1 | 0
Bottom 10 Breakdown Gen I | 1 (Slowpoke) | 3 | -2 Gen II | 1 (Chinchou) | 2 | -1 Gen III | 4 (Huntail, Lotad, Lombre, Clamperl) | 3 | +1 Gen IV | 3 (Prinplup, Phione, Shellos) | 1 | +2 Gen V | 1 (Alomomola) | 1 | 0
Generation Breakdown
Gen I Top performer: Lapras (2nd 99th percentile) Worst performer: Slowpoke (106th 4th percentile) Average placement: 46.09 (59th percentile)
Gen II Top performer: Suicune (5th 96th percentile) Worst performer: Chinchou (101st 8th percentile) Average placement: 47 (58th percentile)
Gen III Top performer: Sharpedo (10th 92nd percentile) Worst performer: Clamperl (110th 0th percentile) Average placement: 70.93 (36th percentile)
Gen IV Top performer: Empoleon (1st 100th percentile) Worst performer: Shellos (108th 2nd percentile) Average placement: 55 (50th percentile)
Gen V Top performer: Dewott (6th 95th percentile) Worst performer: Alomomola (104th 6th percentile) Average placement: 54.41 (51st percentile)
While Gen I had a definite presence in the top ten and only one Pokemon in the bottom ten, it actually had a fairly even spread of Pokemon outside of the top twenty (it had 10 of the top 20 spots as well). This accounts for its more normal average placement, which Gen II actually came fairly close to beating. Gen II performed better than usual, but had nothing really notable. A pretty even distribution throughout. Now, in a rare event, Gen IV wasnt the one to get pushed to the side this time! Aside from having the winner, Gen IV had two more in the top twenty, and had an average placement well above the worst (Gen III) and in the 50th percentile. Gen V had a very light presence at the top (the second highest performer was Carracosta at 25th), but it also had a fairly even distribution throughout the rest of the field, giving it an average placement in the 50th percentile (which is where it should be if each Gen were treated equally). Gen III, however, was completely steamrolled in this contest. It had one other entrant in the top twenty (Milotic, at 20th), but had nine Pokemon in the bottom twenty. Whats worse is that it only had five Pokemon crack the top fifty. A VERY low average placement (which might account for Gen IV and V having comparatively better than normal performances) shows that Gen III was the one to get the shaft this time. Gen I would probably get the most bias due to its heavy presence in the top, but its average placement wasnt significantly better than Generation IIs.
Gen I would have had a better average if not for XxmonsterxX's goof with his Slowpoke vote that caused it to be eliminated so early.
Don't worry about posting all the stats before the Rock contest. I meant you could post what you can get to to at least keep us entertained before the next contest. I'm wondering if we should create a new topic for just the stats or a general discussion topic.
I forgot to mention this last time, but it's worth noting that Water was the first contest (took three tries) to have at least one rep from each Gen in both the top and bottom ten. On that note, I give you...
Grass
Winner: Bulbasaur (Gen I)
Key: Generation | Pokemon in top/bottom 10 | Number expected | Difference

Gen II Top performer: Bellossom (13th 84th percentile) Worst performer: Skiploom (65th 16th percentile) Average placement: 33.5 (57th percentile)
Gen III Top performer: Grovyle (3rd 97th percentile) Worst performer: Shroomish (77th 0th percentile) Average placement: 41.12 (47th percentile)

Alright, before I say anything, the numbers in this one are pretty misleading. At first glance with the top ten, it might appear as though there was a pretty good distribution among the top. The averages look decent, too. Two gens competing closely, one in the middle, two in the back of the pack. Look at it for more than a minute though, and whats amiss is quite obvious. First, and this is the first time its happened, Gen II had nobody in either the top or bottom ten, but somehow barely missed beating Gen Is average again. This is primarily because almost all of them were eliminated pretty evenly spread apart in a fairly concise span. The real competition was between Gens I and V. In almost every category, Gen V outclassed Gen I this contest. Apart from being unable to nab the winner, Gen V won the top hands down. Gen Vs three top tens had higher average placement than Gen I (2nd, 5th, and 6th versus 1st 8th and 9th). Gen I also had nobody else in the top twenty, while Gen V was able to nab three more spots. Towards the middle, things got more even, with Gen I taking back lost ground (well... when looking at it in reverse chronological order, that is). Where Gen I dominated though (and where Gen V failed) was in the bottom of the barrel. Or should I say the lack of Gen Is presence there. Gen I had NO pokemon in the bottom twenty at all (Gloom barely missed it, being one spot above). Gen V had five, four were bottom ten, and the fifth was bottom eleven. So, while the crème of the crop had Gen V written all over it, it was Gen I who ended up taking the contest as a whole. I wouldnt really chalk this up to bias at all, just Gen V having a very poor bottom tier. The bottom generation-wise is just more of the same. Gens III and IV competing to not be last. Gen III slightly outclassed IV in just about every category, though, so it avoids bringing up the rear, and Gen IV is once again the one taking the shaft.
Yeah, Grovyle's my favorite Grass type by far. Definitely the only one I'd put anywhere near my top 20, though I'm not really sure if he'd make the cut. Still an awesome Pokemon though. Wish he could've made the finals.
Grovyle is indeed awesome. I liked his role in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, and he looks so bad***. He's certainly one of my top 2 Grass-Types with Cacturne. Yes, Cacturne.
I wasn't there for the contest, so I have little opinion other than, "Bulbasaur is a fair winner."
I got a little disillusioned with Grovyle when I realized how crappy it was to raise in White. It's really fragile and has crap attacks until it learned Leaf Blade at level 29.
