I didn't even have that laptop for 2 years. This old 80 gig laptop that I'm on has been through all sorts of crap and it's still going strong.

Best Buy is gonna charge freakin' $99 to recover my files and stuff. Is there any cheaper alternative? I know the files might not even be recoverable, which is kinda sad, but not that big of a deal.

Although I do have to wonder, what about the games I have on Steam? They're actually on my Steam account, I know, so I can access them from any computer that has Steam installed, right? But not the save files and stuff?

Yeah save files are gone, but you can reinstall Steam games anywhere.

Also topics like this make me really thankful that the laptop I got in 2007 still works. It'll be a sad day when it finally breaks down

Not that I'll be getting a laptop any time soon, but do you guys have any suggestions? The one I'm on now is a Toshiba, and since it has served me so well for so long I decided to get a newer Toshiba. Well that obviously didn't work out. Thing was a piece of s***.

So now I need ideas for when I save up some money for a new laptop. It of course has to be Windows because it's no secret that I hate Apple. And I would like to get into more PC gaming so I need a laptop that has a good graphics card.

Actually steam syncs the saves automatically unless you turn it off, so he should still have the saves for any games that utilize the cloud saves. I had the same thing happen to me last month, said f*** the hard drive and just bought a new one.
