I don't think it sounds full enough without actual vocals, I'm gonna tweak them more to make them sound less distorted sometime. Maybe I'll put it up (the instrumental version) sometime later today though!
And yeah I recorded seperately. I can't really play ukelele, my 2 acoustics, my electric and my piano at the same time haha
that's cool, different strokes for different folks. Most of my songs have many different variations haha. This one in particular has got this more lush instrumentation, a piano version and that acoustic one.
Some guy wanted opinions on his band's stuff, and it was free and all, but in order to listen you had to sign up for the site and be part of some mailing list, which I made a comment to.
As for you, not my cup of tea, but there is a market for this stuff and it's well done.
I remember when you gave us the rough cut of this song a long time ago. I liked it then (put in on my iPod ^_^ ) and so I'm hyped to listen to the completed version.
Haha that's cool, there's lots of people that I know that are divided on which version they like more. I might rerecord the acoustic version with the vocals less rough.
I'm working on an EP so expect some more stuff soon-ish (could take half a year, could take a month)
edit: It might not be what you guys expect though because I've got more jazzier and 'foreign' sounding songs too. (phrygian scales and such for the music nerds among us) We'll see what you think then I guess!
Sweet song, man. You really do get better each time you upload something. The first time you sent me the PM to download this it didn't work for whatever reason. I'm glad I got to hear this. Loved it.
Also, glad you finally got a uke! Lots of fun, huh?

I tend to prefer acoustic and more 'raw' sounding stuff, so that's probably the major reason why. this sounds too produced for my tastes. the main guitar (or wait, is that a ukelele?) sounds way too clean in this and since it's playing through pretty much the whole thing it just kinda bugs me.
the one you hear in the beginning (alone) is the ukelele. The guitar comes in 2 bars after (right after the piano). There's also a second classical guitar playing along but that's more lowkey.
edit: It might be the classical guitar that you think sounds too 'clean', it's the one that plays triplets in the beginning in the right channel.
Ukelele's are so great. I went on a huge Beirut kick and decided to buy one, and I'm so glad I did. The song I use for the board 8 album is probably going to be centered around it.

I'm going through the same thing right now haha

Cool! Take your time if you need it. I'm going to send around PMs in a few days, maybe weeks, to hear how possible 'candidates' are doing with their stuff and such.
I like it, I don't see how it's "too produced" either, if the acoustic instruments are being processed at all it sounds minimalist and there's even some clipping, 'clean' is not how I would describe this at all
my covers on there are pretty outdated! I switch them up a lot anyway >_> I play Astral Weeks different like everyday. I'm addicted to playing Van right now
