Because I cant wear jeans to work and I don't want to change before I go.
Don't change. Just pull your jeans on over your shorts.

if you don't want to get picked, wear the shorts. nothing bad will happen to you, they just won't pick you. especially since you have a 'good reason' for showing up that way.
You won't get harassed for not being all dressed up. It's not like you're going to be sitting on the jury that day. It's just selection and rejection.
Also if you personally know or are related to a member of law enforcement, make sure to mention that when they're asking questions. Pretty sure way of not getting picked without having to do something ridiculous like saying you're racist.

Well, they outright asked us if we knew or were related to anyone in law enforcement the one time I had it, and they rejected me. As far as I know, that's the only reason I wasn't selected. Apparently, the defense thinks you'll be biased toward the prosecution because you are in favor of justice being served and making sure criminals get what's comin' to them.

But I did some "online impaneling" and I have already been assigned a court and time and stuff so I thought maybe I was already selected.
Is that possible?
Unless they do things differently in your state, the prosecution and the defense have the right to inspect potential jurors and decline their services if they have any sort of reservations about your ability to be unbiased. I wouldn't imagine you got thrown onto a jury without that happening.

But instead of going to the courthouse, I filled out some stuff online and it assigned me a court date so I think that maybe I did bypass the in-person impaneling.
Damn it.
