This needed to be a topic, especially since the game is officially out of beta today. The game has been in open beta for awhile, and is still free to play and still absolutely amazing.

Why play tribes? Aside from having nothing to lose, the game strives to revitalize a type of fps game that existed before the slow moving cover system laden tap button to win proliferated the market. This genre being fast paced skill based shooting.

Your character regularly moves over 100 kph (this is considered slow) and tries to hit other targets moving just as fast. Also jetpacks. For everyone. Fun.

I would also recommend checking out Totalbiscuit's coverage of the game, though some of what he says is a bit outdated as there have been some significant updates since he officially covered the game.

Haven't played in a while. The game is fun, though a bit too grindy in terms of unlocking weapons.

Unless that's changed recently.

Still grindy, though they did have this 250 free gold on facebook thing. So if you wanted an easy way to unlock the weapon of your choice, you could.

But yeah, grind could use some adjustment. The only other viable way to make decent xp is to purchase a booster...which could be worse considering it is a free game that is more than decent at what it is. Supporting devs etc. Plus a permanent 50% xp boost >_>;;

Yeah they make the game grindy to encourage purchasing convenience items like boosters. That's like the staple of f2p games
