Roster updates, gradual improvements over the years, etc. I guess you could go for one in your price range, but I'm not sure how long they keep the servers open form.

From: pjbasis | #005 Wikipedia informs me that there are at least six different "The Show" games.
Any notable differences?
Uh, the year they were released? The control schemes are different for '11 and '12, too.
I mean, if you don't care about updated rosters, I'd go with '10, since I'm not a huge fan of analog pitching/hitting (fielding's fine), but if you do then just get '12.
Edit: Oh, duh, price range. Didn't read that part. '10 or '11, then. (Don't know if '10's servers are still up)

MLB '11 added analog pitching, MLB '12 added much improved ball physics and the new Marlins stadium. I'd say get '10 or '12 - I can't quite remember, but I think MLB '10 is the last title to allow you to import rosters via USB. In '11 and '12, the only way to get new rosters is from the online server, and I'm not sure if the '11 server is still up.
There's a group of editors who overhaul every roster over at operationsports. It's incredibly awesome.
