I love this game and I will encourage people to join Iamdead in playing it.

It is a beautiful game.
It is very enjoyable to play.
It is FREE to play.
It does it's source material serious justice, which is saying something.


It's basically one of the best things ever and if I wasn't spending all my time playing LoL I would be playing LOTRO. So play LOTRO people ^_^

Ermine stopped playing just because he didn't manage to get to level 20 without dying.

If you get to level 20 without dying you earn a title called 'The Undying'.

So I am EffDee, The Undying and he is just 'Ermine'

I'm willing to get back into this but I'm discouraged by the fact that after lvl 20 you basically have to purchase quests to make progress in the game

is this still the case

Do you have to purchase quests or an expansion pack? Cause I'm ok with purchasing expansions at least.

When I was playing they used a currency called 'Turbine Points'.

You could use TP to buy Quest Packs (or to just buy the Mines of Moria expansion).



You could either pay actual cash for TP (and then buy said packs) or you could grind the TP by being an achievement whore like I was. You get TP for killing certain numbers of wolves/bugs/bears/boars/goblins/etc. For exploring a certain number of places or completing a certain number of quests.



And so I had my main character on Crickhollow that i got to 25 (there were MORE than enough quests to get here) and I got all the achievements in the first 3 zones on my main character.

Then I made a 2nd character for the sole purpose of getting those same achievements again; Achievements are called 'Deeds' iirc . And because all your Turbine Points go straight to your account it doesn't matter that they were earned on diff characters. Then deleted character 2 and made a new one and farmed the achievements again. You end up with more than enough TP to buy Horse Riding skill, quest packs, bag slots, everything you want on your main basically without spending real cash.



Or you could just spend like 10-20 bucks on a great game to buy TP outright. It's the option I would have taken were I less broke ^_^

Yeah this is basically what I meant

leveling 3 characters to 20 before you can actually start going past that is too much of a hassle for me and I'm not spending anymore money on online games because I already have LoL for that >_> So yeah I probably won't be starting this again anytime soon!

It's been awhile, but IIRC if you go into the TP store they have general guidelines for what levels the quest packs are for.

They had revolving sales though so I typically just bought whatever quest pack happened to be on the biggest sale expecting that I'd get use from it at some point.

I might be convinced to hop on and play a bit depending on how much sleep I end up getting and who is going to be available to play LoL with at the time <_<


But that does mean I can put my leatherworking to good use and make people low level (5-22ish?) gear as long as its medium/light.

At least I think that's the kind of armor I make >_>


Back when we had a board 8 group that was on pretty frequently I was pretty good at keeping the new players well equipped so that'd be fine.
