This is a behavioral interview, which are apparently all the rage nowadays. Rather than ask you stuff about your past work experiences, they ask you about past situations or things you've had to go through to better understand and predict how you might handle similar situations in the future. There's a whole scoring system and everything. It's pretty ridiculous, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...

I'm having a phone interview and they sent me the questions they were going to ask in advance. Probably because they knew it would be way too freaking hard to come up with something on the spot. This is the one I'm having the most trouble with. I have no idea what to say.

Just tell them your straightedge and you were tempted to drink when going through some relationship/family problems. But you resisted with almighty will power.

I think it will make a good impression!

What would happen if you didn't have an answer to some of these questions because you just haven't been in the relevant situations?

Anyway for me probably the temptation to just say "f*** this s***" and quit physics to do quantitative finance and actually get paid

...well I haven't actually made the decision yet, but I'll probably stick with physics >.>
