I recommend you get him to read Invincible. I'd recommend Savage Dragon but that's less easy to jump into and the Ultimate Collection isn't out yet (in a couple months I think).

I tried to read a random Dragonlance book once when I was like eight years old. I was probably a wee bit too young to enjoy them. I imagine they are similar to the Forgotten realms books, and I've read tons of the Drizzt ones and those are a good time.
As for comics I have no idea, I don't really read comics.

there's a pretty narrow window of enjoyment honestly. at eight you were probably too young but anyone older than like seventeen or eighteen might be a bit too old to enjoy them as well.
that being said I did enjoy the books a bit when I was younger, and if you don't read a lot they will be great fun for you Anri.
