See here's the thing. I have my own router that is currently at my uncle's house up the street (who I previously lived with for years). I'm now living with another aunt and uncle, right down the street, because of life. My linksys router that I have at my uncle's house is set up as WEP, which seemed to help my PS3 connect effectively. Right now the router that I'm dealing with at my current residence (with my aunt and uncle) is a WPA. That shouldn't matter. But at the same time, I'm in the basement and my PS3 does manage to connect, sort of, but the signal strength is so bad that it can't do anything with it.

SO. My router that is currently still at my uncle's house, could I possible take that and connect it to the modem in this "new" residence and keep it closer to my PS3 so that I can get a better connection? That would mean one modem, two routers. And of course I would have my PS3 (and possibly my laptop) connected to my router instead. Is that possible?

Pretty sure you can't do what you're thinking. One of them wouldn't work right...

But yeah, just get a long cable.

just wire your ps3 to your router

bad encryption isn't going to help all that much when you're too far away from the router anyway

Cable is pretty much impossible with the way the house is set up.

yeah going through floors kills your signal strength way faster than going through walls since floors are generally much thicker
