Personally, I have little doubt that Trayvon Martin attacked Zimmerman. My question is, who attacked first, and why? I find it moderately hilarious that taken at face value if two people have guns pointed at eachother, it's legal for the murder to go either way seeing how both have their life threatened.

Obviously. The question becomes why one minor incident of racial violence, which is being used as a microcosm for racial violence generally, is the make-or-break factor for these voters.
It's worth noting that those same states are going to require a high evangelical turnout for Romney to stand a chance. He's got a much smaller chance of filling that demographic up that Obama does with his respective key demographic.

I'll read the article when I get home, but for one if the gun was out for Martin to go for, Zimmerman was threatening and in the wrong in addition to violating direct orders to not follow or harass Martin.

You don't call the cops and say "There is a suspicious MFer walking around with a hoodie on, should I follow him?" if you're not planning on starting something.
