This is driving me crazy. So I'm trying to display my windows desktop on my tv through an hdmi cable, but it comes through in black and white. I know it's not a problem with the cable because the log-in screen will be in color, but when I log in it switches to black and white. I've looked through various color options but can't find anything wrong. I don't know why anything would be wrong in the first place, because I've used this exact setup with the same computer, tv and cable a hundred times before.
I've unplugged and replugged the cable. I've turned my computer off and back on, and installed updates. I've set color options that I can find to default even though I've never messed with them before. I've googled the problem and can't seem to find anything that helps.

oop, i fixed it! in the graphics card control panel there's a color settings tab. I had fiddled around in there earlier to no avail, but upon looking at it again noticed that tucked away in the right hand corner is a Restore Defaults button that did the job.
