If they cut through anything, wouldn't stabbing into something and putting his weight on them just make them cut down instead of letting him climb?

He's the best there is at what he does.

And what he does is ignore the laws of physics.

though they can cut through almost anything there have been multiple occasions when something hard/dense enough repelled it without being of something equal or better. also worth noting is that even though it can cut through most things it doesn't mean that it won't meet any resistance in the process. though i'm sure he's climbed some things he definitely shouldn't have been able to, the usual 'climbing a wall' ain't one of them.

Actually, you're right because if he punches into the wall and then pushes down as he pushes himself up, he should cut through. Although, he'd already be taking out those claws by the time he would be slashing down and punching them up higher.... so it actually works. Hell, cutting through the wall actually helps his momentum I'd think since it'd take less time to pull out his claws if he just slashes back out and punches back in.

He stabs the wall with a much greater force than his natural body weight exerts as he climbs. Also, he's stabbing with the tip, making penetration much easier. The entire force of his stab is concentrated into three tiny claw points. When he's climbing, the (significantly lesser) force of his body weight is concentrated along the length of his claws, a much larger area.
