...and the anime wasn't popular anymore because they made up their own horrible stories and went deep into filler hell, which was not ruled by the awesome Lord Shishio.
YahikoxTsubame is the best pairing in Rurouni Kenshin. And Yahiko as a whole is one of the best things about the final arc.
*spoilers*
The bit where the huge guy with one arm attacks by himself and Yahiko holds him off while Tsubame goes and successfully brings Kenshin back to his normal self through protect > revenge is probably my favourite run in the manga.
*end spoilers*
My favourite manga, anyway. Really had me hooked from Saito's introduction all the way until the final few chapters of the manga. Even on rereads I usually lose interest around the time they all get into the boat and go to that island.

if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it do the other trees laugh?
yeah it's awesome. suffers a bit toward the end due to the fact that saitou's role begins to feel contrived and that his importance is lost - but enishi is quite solid

I'm always serious. Otherwise, no one will take me seriously.

Reason for that though was the writing on the manga slowed down quite a bit, and they would've caught up fast in the middle of that third arc. So they waited it out with filler, show got cancelled in the meantime. Anime tragedy.
But heeelll yes Kenshin is the greatest, and the ending to the manga is beautifully satisfying.
