Maybe it was because I had really low expectations going into it, but I haven't been that sucked into an RPG since FFX. And I'm one of the guys that loved XII!
I mean, yes, the writing is abysmal, but the characters are pretty good and something about the story is just compelling enough to keep your interest.
I was incredibly disappointed in XIII, but this game has managed to even make me think about giving it another playthrough.

Heh.

The monster thing was pretty cool, though yeah, I could see it being incredibly broken if I actually went into it. Once I got my Chocobo, that was it.
I liked the characters, though. Serah doesn't do much, but Noel was pretty good. Caius was okay, too. Hope is bearable, Alyssa is cute, and you can never go wrong with more Lightning!
And the plot had my rolling my eyes all the way to the end, but that ending had me wanting more. I was pretty surprised.

Chocobos have the best stats, another monster gets the better abilities. It's always Chocobo, random monster with better abilities, or DLC character at the top.
Absolutely. Best jrpg this year best in the series since x for sure.

BIGPUN9999 posted... wow, I remember only hearing negative things from you about this game
when? >_>
i complain a lot about XIII, and i might have laughed at XIII-2's writing, but that's about it!
it's kind of a bummer that the DLC so far is just battles and nothing of major consequence (though i guess the characters you get from them are cool), but the recently announced Lightning/Caius story DLC has me interested! too bad i don't actually own the game.
also jihl DLC next week aww yeah
