He was thinking maybe a game console that doesn't read discs anymore so he could get it cheap. Any ideas where he could go to find one? Or maybe there's a better option? He's looking at about $25 or less, if it's possible.
wii's the cheapest that can do this yeah. though i'm not sure if raspberry pi can do this too. not sure if linux and netflix work with each other. otherwise you're still better off with a different kind of media player that can do this. there are media player boxes designed just to stream that can be gotten for 50 on the occasion.

Well if he can't get it that cheap, then that's that. I can find some broken Wiis on eBay but I don't know if they can be trusted to work even just for streaming Netflix.
So I guess I'll just tell him his best option is getting a player for $50. Thanks.
well again, the model number is there. you can check out what ebay or amazon say on it. also note that these are later versions of the originals. the originals should be cheaper. ...well at least i think the original will be on the western digital. the 2nd version - which is called a Plus version of its sequel and no that doesn't make sense - may be pricier, but i've seen the one on newegg there for $60 before too, and other similar ones go down as well.
