I have some videos on small videocasettes that I want to digitize.
the camcorder only has output cables that are firewire or composite but my pc has neither.
what do I do?

Your computer doesn't have firewire? I find that unlikely, unless you're on a laptop.

maybe it isn't firewire ... it calls it dv and it is a tiny almost square cable end
aren't dv and fire wire the same?

From the looks of it, DV is in fact Firewire. So borrow a computer with Firewire, ideally. I don't think you can generally convert that type of cable.

is it also impossible to hook up composite with some sort of converter?

There's software you can purchase that will have a USB adapter that you can plug composite cables in to.
I know Staples sells one but I can't remember the name of it.
