This is a follow-up to my virgin experience of the Reddit Atheism site (aka the al capone's safe of unintentional hilarity), where we basically cracked up for a few hundred posts at how bats*** crazy some/all of the people there were.
I decided to check in on them again today to find out that there was an Epic meme underway. Basically the people there would combine their visage with a personal, stylized quote about their epic beliefs and worldviews. As seen by exhibit A here:
its some glorious comedy. I have only looked at two of these and have already determined that this topic will be one of my personal favorites.

Isn't that the same thing that athiests do all the time? They find out someone is a believer and tell them they are wrong/crazy/uneducated/etc. I see it in basically every topic on this board about religion.

Lurking, mostly. But now that I have a job where I sit at a computer 85% of the time, I have a lot more time to... well, sit at a computer. So I find stuff to do, like post on GameFAQs message boards.

There are probably more obnoxious atheists in total, but I feel like the obsessive/abrasive/obnoxious thing is about as far as they go in the spectrum of awful.
Where-as the theists go a lot further in that spectrum, to the point that it negatively effects those around them. Just look at the whole contraception issue going on right now. It's religious people trying to control the world around them for the most part.

It's not particularly wrong to be "in your face" so to speak regarding atheism, but like many things, there are good and bad ways to approach doing so.
And there is no doubt that there are theists who go WAY too far. (Hello Westboro Baptist). They piss me off more than any atheist ever could.

atheists have the reasonable capabilities to not be belligerent and psychotic (such as the people on the reddit site), but manage to be that way regardless.

then you have the 99% who are off the wall crazy atheists....they are obsessed with religious debates, are hateful and bigoted, have delusions of being scientific experts with their CC degree because they know the big bang and evolution, still are apparently children who consider it a big deal to go against their parents, etc

They put minimal thought and effort into their spiritual views and assume that the rest of the world has put less thought than they have. As such there's a pretty even percentage on both sides that is completely ridiculous.

Hey guys, if I was an atheist I'd just be so casually atheist that you wouldn't even know. You'd pass me on the street, thinking I was just like you. You'd give me a nod, maybe a passing "Sup." And I'd smile back, give a polite "God doesn't exist." Then I'd sign on to the internet, just like you. Probably on to a site where I know there is a good selection of religious people. With my every day, average username of SlightlyEroticAtheist.

This is just crazy people being crazy regardless of what they believe. And like any group with extremists in it, others outside the group tend to assume that everyone in the group is like the extremists. Happens with Christians, with Muslims, with atheists, with liberals and conservatives and feminists and environmentalists and video gamers and any kind of group. It's just an unfortunate thing.

Really, the reason that these are all so funny/dumb is because people who think that their religious beliefs (or lack thereof) make them better than people with different beliefs are dumb.
