My current one broke awhile ago so I had it removed. Now my account's been hacked. I could get it reactivated but without another authenticator I'd just get hacked again probably.

I ordered two when I got the first one so I have a spare lying around somewhere. I can't find it.

This topic is where I will think really hard until I remember where it is.

Here I go.

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

I'm sorry to change the topic but is having battle.net accounts hacked really this much of an epidemic that you're guaranteed to get hacked without an authenticator?

It means I have a keylogger and I don't know if I'll be able to clear it. Even if I run a bunch of programs to clear it, I'll never know for sure if I got the one that hacked me.

The only way to really be safe now is to get an authenticator.

Yes. My WoW account was hacked like 6 months after I stopped playing. I didn't find out until 2 months later when I got an email saying it was frozen for gold selling and I was like "lol what I have played in like 8 months". No idea how it could've happened... I have anti-virus/spyware software and the only thing I usually download is torrents (MODS: TORRENTS OF LEGAL THINGS THAT ARE ABLE TO BE SHARED OF COURSE).

Holy ****. So I ended up just using my brothers android as an authenticator until I get my own smartphone (which will actually be within a week or two)

But I'm going to go through the sequence of events that happened to my knowledge (there are holes where I don't know what the ****). I think it's pretty funny.

So yesterday at around 6pm I logged onto WoW to get ready for the raid 2 hours later. When I went to log in, my account was locked. That happens when someone at another IP tries to log in, they just automatically lock it. So I figured my hackers got foiled by Blizz's defense system.

Now, most of my characters are all on the Mannoroth server, which has 4 level 85s including my old warrior main, Grimmsh. However, I recently transferred my current main, my rogue Desukà, to Kil'Jaeden to raid with a new guild. I still play on my other characters, but since I was on for raid I just went on Desukà. I didn't notice anything missing, my gold looked about right (around 40k), so I figured the hackers didn't get in. I raided for a few hours and eventually logged off. I forgot to do something after I logged off so I immediately tried to log back in, but my account was closed/ banned. I looked at my email and it said I was banned for exploiting the economy, exchanging gold or something for real world money.

I obviously haven't done that so I figured I could just get them to remove it, but I should attach an authenticator to prove that it won't happen again, since I won't get hacked. This is when I made this topic.

Several HNNNNNNG sessions later I gave up and asked my brother if I could use his android smartphone temporarily. He didn't mind so I attached to my account. So then I made my plea to Blizz to restore my account.

Their response? Nope. Absolutely not. I broke the rules and their decision will not be reversed. Then they closed my ticket.

So I reopened the ticket and was basically like, come oooooon.

So they responded with, nope, these are the rules. Except actually yeah here's your account.

It was a weird message. There was like a paragraph of them implying they won't do it, then suddenly one line of them saying I can play again >_>

I get an email saying a bunch of items and gold (48k, which seems like more than I remember Grimmsh having >_>) were being restored to Grimmsh. But one odd thing caught my eye. The realm said Firetree. "But he's on Mannoroth!"

So I log in, sure enough, Grimmsh, (along with some random level 1 character I never made) are on that Firetree. The hackers transferred one of my main characters to Firetree. ****ing Firetree.

How could this have happened? When? Was he already on Firetree when I logged in to raid? Was it during? Right after when the account got locked? I have no idea!

I currently have a ticket open for that, but man. Firetree. Of all the realms, why would they send me there?
