Almost a month later I finally got round to this, many thanks to those of you who kept the topic alive as i'm so glad I did this, some of you posted some real gems!
I basically asked users to post remixes of VGM songs. 30 in total, but I allowed one extra one in because todbot posted no.30 and no.31 in the same post.
I'm not good with musical terms so the write ups probably wont be that great, just going to explain how they made me feel and whether my ears liked them or not.

There weren't many of the 31 posted that I didn't like, but these first few that will appear on the list, i truly detested. I mean seriously, WTF is this... I don't know if this was meant to be a joke nom, but its really not at all what I was looking for when I initially made the topic... Really horrible.

Unfortunately for you shados, I absolutely DESPISE dubstep. There are only a few dubstep tracks I could say I even partially enjoy, and this certainly isn't one of them. This remix does not improve the original song (which I love by the way) in any way whatsoever. I actually found myself cringing at parts it was so painful to my ears.

#29. Guile Theme - Slam Jam Remix Suggested by: mcflubbin
This was the only track mcflubbin suggested, and I kind of wished he hadn't suggested anyway. I generally love all things Guile Theme related and was looking forward to listening to this. But this is just a goddamn mess. Its just one track played over another, no real mixing at all, just... BLEURGH. Horrible.

Not a huge fan of Drum n Bass either unfortunately, and although I get the creepiness of the track... I just thought it was horrible. There was really nothing to this track for me and I just wanted it to end. It was a struggle to listen to the whole way through, and I was kind of hoping it would get better the more it went on... It didn't.

A slighty better Hyadain song. Really enjoyed the first 20 seconds. Then when the dude started singing i was like meh. Listening to it again, its slightly better than I remember from when i listened to it a couple of hours ago... But still nowhere near top tier.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't listen to the entire 9 minutes plus of this piece. I skipped parts and listened to as much as possible. It kinda sounded the same... Didn't really grip me at all, Sounded like it could have come straight out of the game which isn't really what I'm looking for.

This is ok. The arrangement is clever and I can appreciate it as a musical piece... It just didn't really make me want to listen to it the whole way through, it kinda bored me a little. Once again sounded better second time I listened to it, but not much better.

Once again this isn't really what I was initially looking for when I made this topic. Saying that, a few songs that weren't really what I was looking for are actually quite near the top... This one isn't though. Not really a remix as such, more some chick singing a song, and as nice as it is, it would be unfair to place it any higher on a "remix" list.

This was pretty cool, and although I know it wasn't included in the game as such, it kinda sounds like it could well have been. Very nicely orchestrated piece though.

Was really excited about this track before listening to it as I love the Chrono Cross soundtrack, and this is EXACTLY the type of track I was looking for when I made the list. Started off really well, then kinda filters out a bit though unfortunately for me. Was actually far better the second time I listened to it though, and now I see the ones I put above it, it should perhaps be a fair few spots higher. Too lazy to change it though.

A nice, rocky remix of a Sonic the Hedgehog tracks. Im usually not a massive fan of rocky remixes to VGM songs, but this one has other good aspects to it too. Nice synths accompany the guitar well.

Orochimaru's only suggestion, and a fairly decent one. I liked it a lot in certain parts, but it was far too long and quite boring at parts, had far more potential than it actually gave out, shame it didn't deliver how I would have liked, still good nonetheless.

McVaffe is featured again much later in the list, with what i consider to be a far better remix than this. Don't get me wrong, I like this, but it just seems a bit plain. Its nice to listen to though, reminds me a little of a Dark Cloud track, which is definately a good thing!

More of a cover than a remix, but still remixed nonetheless into a rock metal style. I didn't think I would like this, but I did, especially the random HADOUKEN soundbytes.

This is a really nice remix of Marble Zone. First 30 seconds are probably my favourite, really like the violin sounds. Rest of the track is still really good, very mystical and magical sounding I thought.

I absolutely love chiptune, so this was always going to be fairly high. Really liked it, but I kind of expected more, it felt a bit bland in places and just felt like it needed some more beats going on somewhere to accompany it.

This is an absolutely fantastic piece of music. Not exactly a remix and more of just a live version of a song within the game, which is why I've put it maybe a bit lower than some others, but yeh, this is awesome. Kicks in masterfully around 2:00 after some beautifully haunting music beforehand.

...So says an avid listener on youtube. Great comment though so had to include it. I do agree to some extent, the synths used on this track are pretty incredible and has a great tempo to it after a nice soothing start.

I didnt actually realise i'd put all of JONA's songs in a row. Consistent though! This a great track, especially from 2:45 onwards where it really gets going. I don't know what game its off though... But i dont care. Enjoyed it!

Incredibly fast paced but still very tuneful. Absolutely amazing rock remix, I honestly couldn't pick a favourite part of the song because it was all awesome. Everything is just mixed really well together and creats an awesomely exciting track.

I can safely say from this song onwards, all suggestions were epic and i loved every single one in a different way. In fact positions #2 to #8 were very hard to differentiate for me. This remix is awesome. Some great trance like beats mixed with some guitar synths and a fantastic upbeat tempo to it.

This track's instant beats and tempo hit you like you've had a brick thrown at your face... But in a good way. I am a close happy hardcore fan so was glad when Darren suggested this. When i first played it i was like WOOOOOAH! And then 20 seconds in i was like YEHHHHHHH!!! Fist pumping on my chair. So cool. Loved it.

Nice start, and then 30 seconds in BOOM!!! And it just keeps getting better and better. Kinda slows down a bit but builds up and epically kicks in around 2:10. Sick stuff! Sticks to its VGM old school tune roots but beautifully and tunefully spices it up in toan awesome upbeat trance track.

One word for this track. Sensational. Starts off sounding very minimal-like, but then eases into a nice manageable DnB beat with a beautiful flutelike sound playing over the top. Goes a bit weird in the middle, but it compliments the remix well. Overall, just an absolutely beautiful tune. Video is sick as well.

I love me an EPIC song I do. This is a beautifully remastered piece. Its good up until 2:10, and then it just explodes in to all kinds of awesomeness. A really awe-inspiring remix, emphatic tunes, and solid throughout.

When this song first started, i was like, wow, this is really beautiful. Great synths, beautiful piano... Then the voice comes in around 40 seconds and I literally got goosebumps. And did so again the following ten times I listened to it. The voice comes in beautifully, distorted and chopped, but not in a bad way. The voice is then played with throughout the song so effortlessly, and mixes in incredibly with the slow playing synths and overall tempo of the song. Truly a remarkable remix and worthy of the #1 spot in my opinion.

Yeah, after listening to it after listening to a couple of other renditions of MOtC, I have to agree with pretty much everything you said. Still, as a standalone track I personally would've ranked it higher, but I'm generally the kind of person that doesn't generally mind really long build-ups so eh.
