Board 8 > Well, it's time for me to transfer my iTunes library to my PC.

So I got my new PC last summer and there was one thing I've needed to do since getting it: Transfer all of my songs from my laptop directly to my PC. Since my laptop is probably going to die sometime in the distant future, I figure I should do it now.

So I need to hunt down where all 2,552 songs are in my library. And then catch up on all of the music that I haven't been able to add due to my procrastination. Also, f*** these stupid programs that think you need to spend over ten dollars just to transfer your songs from one computer to another. And f*** Apple for not finding an easier way to do this.

there is an easier way

consolidate your library in itunes
move that folder to your pc
import that folder into itunes on your new pc

Yeah... two issues with the consolidating.

1) My laptop has like, no space on it.

2) My jump drive I'm using to transfer everything lacks enough space to do that as well.

Soooo... I'm wasting time, basically.

Do you have an iPod? If so, you could just use one of those programs that transfers files from that to your computer.

no it doesn't. you move your files from one folder into the next. no copying necessary.

oh wait, you're adding files to your itunes library and then moving them? that sounds like an unnecessary step, and you should go into your iTunes preferences, click the advanced tab, and make sure 'Copy Files to iTunes Media folder' is unchecked.

If you have an iPod classic/Nano with sufficient free space, you can use disk mode on that.


Otherwise, why isn't all your music in one folder to begin with <_<

Yes, so I chose add folder to library with all of those folders. It says all 2,552 were put in, and it's doing other processing things. Thank you very much for your help!
