The monitor is like 10 feet away from my TV. Thanks to playing games that require heavy grinding like WKC I can regularly watch stuff on my computer while playing WKC because I can see both from my chair.
now with the cords I can do the opposite as well in case I have stuff to watch that's on my DVR and watch that as I play the game on my monitor
or if someone wants to use the TV then I can just play on the monitor instead of having to do something else

couldn't you do this before? or does your monitor not have an HDMI input?
plus I didn't want to have to move the PS3 by the PC or have cords going across the living room so now I can keep my PS3 where it is and having the cords running through holes in the floor down to the basement and back up to the computer
I'm not drawing in the computer and PC monitor, but it's in the left corner of the room behind the TV
PS3 has HDMI plugged into the TV, then I have the HDMI to DVI cord and the RCA audio cables going through the floor and back up to a switcher box that will allow my PC monitor to switch back and forth between the PC and the PS3
The switch box has 2 Ins and 1 out. l'm leaving the PC audio as is, but when I want to switch to the PS3 audio I have more R/W cables coming out of the switcher box that change into a 3.5mm jack with a F-F connecter at the end that I can plug the computer speakers into
