Yep. It's rare that I ever want to play a RPG that takes over 50 hours to finish, not including sidequests. Persona 4 and DQVIII are two of the only ones I was alright with.

I am really loving how there is actually not a restriction on how high of levels your characters can get. I um, finished chapter 3 part 1, went to sunleth waterscape, finished that...then got enough monster materials to get all my monsters to the 3rd tier or maxed out at the second. Now I can progress the actual story some more! I can already beat behemoths with no effort >_> I looooooove monster hunting/leveling.

Yes. You get something for answering a set amount of events and then get something different for answering a certain amount with a "funny" answer.

Use them to dress up your monsters.

Outfits I am not sure.

Huh. If you can do the flan, Atlus should be pretty easy.

The trick to him is having a good Triple Sentinel group ready, another with at least two medic's, and something with at least two comandos. You're not gonna be able to stagger the guy, though chain bonus boosts the damage well enough regardless.

Each of his attacks is super telegraphed, so you just switch to triple sentinel during his startup animation for them. You'll take way less damage thanks to class bonuses, then you switch to healing UNLESS he only slammed one hand at you, because that means he'll punch you with the other before you get anything off. Afterwards, Medic+Medic heal everything up fast, and then Com+Com+Rav do damage until you switch to defense again.

I beat the giant dude in Academia (400 AF/500AF? Can't remember) on my regular run through......which is partially why I really don't want to be forced to undo that timeline and do it again.

I don't really see how that one was bad aside from them being corny and calling it that. Logistics-wise though, it's about the same as any other use of time travel in that instance.

That, and it's a paradox messing with any regular use of time in the first place.

So, dumb question maybe:

Is there a reliable way to cheat at the slots or something. When I first went to the casino, I used some coupons and a little cash to get 500 coins. 130 games later, I'm down to 0, without ever seeing anything better than 3 chocobos.

I would like that Chaos Crystal, and I just might go ahead and pay 100,000 Gil to get the required 10,000 coins.

Would the Setzer Dice improve the odds?

He supposedly became a pilot, one of the best in the world, only to disappear. That's all I know about him right now. Was hoping there was a timeline where you have some major interactions with him, like Snow and Hope, but nothing so far.

For slots, you can just hold down the shoulder button to play forever. So buy a ton of tokens and just tape it down. There's some Fragments that you get only from slots, so just paying 100,000 gil won't do it for you, I believe.

No, he really does mean 400. The scientist is fairly close to the start, close to where Chocolina is in the Southeastern part. Have fun backtracking >_>.

Fortunately, if you return to Historia Crux through the menu, you will always start in the same place, so you only have to do the backtracking once.

Flanitor and Green Chocobo are usually considered the best two, I believe (moreso Flanitor at low (sub-50) levels).

I am slowly playing this game (due to crazy work schedule + TOR), now on Oerba 200 AF, and I just want to say this:

FFXIII-2 is really fun -- much better than FFXIII. I don't see why it has only a 78.5% rating on gamerankings. Lol reviews, I know, but it's not often that I think a game is reviewed like 10% lower than it should be (higher, sure). It wouldn't be an accessible game for anyone who hasn't played FFXIII, but I don't know why such a person would buy this clearly marked sequel anyway. The controls outside of battle are pretty bad for 2012 standards too, but this hasn't damaged my fun much so far. And it is funny that Serah can jump up like a 20 foot slope but can't jump over your average railing. But it has a great encounter system, combat system, leveling mechanic, areas, graphics, and the game starts right away (unlike the 20+ hours of ramp up in FFXIII). And yes, you could fridge logic this plot to death, but time travel is an entertaining idea, and so far nothing jarringly stupid has happened.

Maybe something will happen to make me hate this game later on, but so far the lukewarm reception puzzles me. Final Fantasy hasn't been this much fun for me in ten years.
