I've only got as far as the first episode in Season 3 but wow, she's awful. It's like she exists purely to frustrate the viewer and regularly get in the way of the plotlines we enjoy. She's hypocritical, rash, lacks understanding and tries to make every conversation and situation about her. I'm just hoping the writers are smart enough to have realised the beast they've created and that she gets her due, it'd be really weak if at this point the writers are expecting the audience to empathise with her.
while skylar is very frustrating as a viewer, if you really take a look at things objectively, skylar is pretty much one of the least despicable characters by a significant margin.

I'm "kind of a big deal". http://img.imgcake.com/cyclo/Cyclopngegpngre.png

Yeah I feel this a lot more on the second watch.
Like, we are "supposed to" root for Walt, and she is interfering with him. But MOST of the time I find it hard to blame her for the things she does.
Especially when Walt lies so often. So much more than he needs to.

Yeah I don't get how everyone says Skyler is being so awful.
Walt lies to her CONSTANTLY, and there were several times when he could have just come clean and it seemed like she might have been willing to understand, and he just makes up obvious bull**** instead. And then when he DOES tell her, he's still a total jerk about it.
That's Walt's fatal flaw, really. He's constantly treating people with no respect, maybe because he's used to being so much smarter than everyone he deals with, and it ends up causing most of his problems.

Something witty while mentioning SuperNiceDog. Give me a break, I'm not as clever as the Guru Champion.

(spoilers)
For me its more how she channels that frustration of knowing her husband is lying to her. Her actual problem with that issue is less concern over what he's trying to hide or understanding that his rationality is slipping with his illness and more just being pissed because she's being kept out of the loop. Whether it was an affair, drug dealing, secret murders or random cancer-induced craziness, she didn't care. The fact was he doing something she didn't know about and couldn't control. When she finds out what he's actually doing there's literally zero attempt to try and understand his reasoning and its just a serious of rash decisions. I mean her joy at his successful cancer treatment was entirely because she knew she could kick him out of the house at that point. Hypocritical because her son was never informed of her intentions or feelings on the matter. Even then using the police as leverage to blackmail him into getting what she wants, she's a horrible person. The whole thing just seems like one big battle for respect and supremacy to her.
The one thing I'm really interested in finding out is if she's written for the audience to feel like this about her or if she's supposed to be a wife acting reasonably.
Marie is also terrible but at least she's a side character who doesn't have much bearing on anything.
