The key here is that the DLC is a bonus. The figurines would have cost that much anyway.

Even if it is, the only reason to be angry is if it's some superpowerful weapon or character that unbalances multiplayer. And we don't know if that's the case yet.

Multiplayer is exclusive co-operative, so there's nothing that can really unbalance it.

[Update] Commenter Chronicles points us to this listing on the BioWare Store site, which says the DLC "is slightly randomized during the registration and could include powerful new weapons and new characters." The DLC is only available for use on PC and Xbox 360 versions. Thanks, Adam!

As long as the DLC can be bought normally otherwise, I don't have a problem with this at all.

Eh, not a big deal. I'm sure it won't be anything too important. And when it says "new characters" I'm betting it's nothing more that new character models for the multiplayer.

It might not end up even being exclusive to the toys.

However, watching all the haters get riled up over this is hilarious. Kotaku isn't really helping with the sensationalist headline.

From the sound of it, I'd guess it'll be something like Neopets or the WoW TCG- there's a pool of items/skins, and every code gives you one at random. Nothing major.
