Everything was executed flawlessly - Gus had to die, but he still went out as a goddamn badass.
I know there's a 5th season in the works, but I'd be more than content to leave that as the finale of the whole show.
Yes, it left some plotholes to be resolved, like what happened to Ted, how Mike responded to the final events, to how the relationships between all the characters played out, but that was such a marvellous finale.
In Dexter I root for the bad guy, the man I know is "evil", but he still feels like a good guy. In Breaking Bad, I root for a guy I have grown to despise. Walt on the other hand feels evil. He had no idea that Brock would survive. He shot a man at point blank range without thinking about it.
But I still want to see him win.
The writing is incredible, the acting is flawless, the symbolism, everything about that, was perfect.
Agreed on pretty much everything, except I root for Jesse rather than Walt. I mean I don't hate Walt, but I care less about his well-being than I do Jesse's. Jesse has been a great guy for the entire series and has had to go through some serious **** because of Walt.. although I can't deny that he has helped him in pretty significant ways as well. I mean nothing is cut and dry in this show so I'm not going to go on and act like one guy is good and the other is bad, I'm just trying to say I really like Jesse.
Oh yeah - absolutely I've been rooting for Jesse more than Waltfor ages. Also, Walt vs Hank? Is that confirmed? The only way I could see that being set up is if some evidence is found at either the explosion in the care home or the lab.
Logically Walt will surely get out of the game at this point. He should run the car wash, keep his family healthy and safe. I guess there is the possibility he sees the opportunity to set himself as the "neo-Gus", but that seems like a far bigger arc than one final seasonworth, unless the season ends with him literally being Neo-Gus and then the cancer gets him, with the entire show then being Walt's descent of character and rise in power before ultimately showing how meaningless that money and power is. Maybe a final scene where he laments the affect on his family and happiness. Iunno something.
Regardless I trust the writers implictly, so I'm sure it'll be great.
