I am not amazed by that, because Newt was able to attack Bill Clinton for his affair while having his own with a straight face, he clearly has no problem being a hypocrite or immoral.

Yes, well, the list of candidates is so weak that Ron Paul is managing to be a serious contender.

Ron Paul is not a serious contender, and he never was. He has basically 0% chance of getting the nomination. The only reason he's still running is because he genuinely wants a platform to spread his ideas.

And what if he did manage to be a serious contender? What's so bad about Ron Paul?

Oh don't get me wrong: I would actually prefer Ron Paul to most of the remaining field.

It's more that...he started out polling about as low as last time, and then after several front-runners completely crumpled when in the spotlight, he got more and more popular to the point that it was looking possible that he might win Iowa. I don't think this would be happening if there was particularly strong competition.

those are all positions that are a majority to SC. it's also easy to find 2/3 of those that'll get a lot of the south/mid-western states.


it also will guarantee that you lose the election however because that's not the case for the more important ones on any of the three. you'll also lose the normally swing-states in the process too. basically means you get the religious states and lose the rest.

Just checked the schedule, and it really doesn't do Newt any favors. Look at the states directly following Florida:

Nevada
Maine
Colorado
Minnesota
Arizona
Michigan
Washington

Those are all the states holding their primaries between February 1 and March 3 (right after Florida and before this election's "Super Tuesday" on March 6). Unfortunately for DA NEWT, every one of those is a Romney state. Not a single southern state in the lot. He'll need to win Florida for any chance of weathering that seven-state storm. If he loses Florida, Romney will probably have enough momentum to sweep all seven and have things wrapped up before Super Tuesday.

btw Romney will be releasing his 2010 return (and an estimate for 2011) on Tuesday, one day after the next debate. Will be fun to watch the tax hating, job creator loving Republican base realize that a man as rich as Romney pays a lower tax rate than a family where both parents work a blue collar job.
