The game has already been in beta for 6 months and announced for like 4 years. Any other company (Bioware, Bethesda) would just say **** it and release the game. Blizzard completely changes several core aspects of the gameplay.

blizzard has been bad since War 3, garbage since WoW.

Battle net 2.0 is perhaps the perfect example of whats wrong with gaming today.

Bnet 2.0 will be fixed eventually. The custom game system is already way better than it was at launch and there are still some big changes on the way. They also already added chat channels. Clans are really the only gigantic thing that is being neglected.

SC2 played pretty cool to me.

Only complaint I really had was the story was ****, but everything else was good to ok, and I don't play an RTS for story anyways.

Except SC2's online for ladder is perfectly fine. The only things wrong with it are what I mentioned and none of those have anything to do with the main aspect of online play.

read these two articles. Both well written and were given help by many people from teamliquid

you want to make bnet 2.0 good? How bout not loading it up with **** tons of DRM? Giving the game lan capabilities so that the game doesnt lag during major tournaments? Adding "cool clan tags" is hardly important these days with how bad gaming is right now about this stuff.

No one will remember if the game is late, only if it's great. We trust in our ability to put out a great game, but we're not quite there yet.

I 100% agree with this thinking.

If it isn't ready, it isn't ready.

Do we want more Final Fantasy 14s simply because people feel the need to not keep people waiting? That is an extreme example, mind you, but the principle remains very much the same.

I'm not going to read those articles because I am sure I already read ones that say the same exact thing they do many times. Lan isn't being added to the game it is pointless to wish for it. They have said there is a chance that tournament organizers will get something they can use to play without being on bnet but admittedly there hasn't been any word on it a while so it probably isn't happening. I watch a ton of SC2 tournaments and lagging during major tournies is ridiculously rare and the majority of the time it does happen it isn't bnet 2.0s fault.

spoken like a true drone (serve the hive!) and the problem with gamers today.

-"Im not gonna read...." = im too ADD to get educated

-"Its pointless to wish for (something that was around in ****ing 1996)" = im too afraid to stand up for something

-"They have said there is a chance...." = a company lying to you to keep your hopes up.

-"I watch a ton of sc2 tournaments....and it isnt bnet2.0's fault" = sounding really defensive. Hell I probably watched more SC1 matches in 2002 (battlereports and sclegacy > reddit/starcraft crap) then you have watched SC2 since the game came out july 2010.

I probably read more articles on bnet 2.0 pre-release than you have. There's nothing to stand up for no LAN isn't even that big of a deal.

I doubt you watched more SC in a single year than I have since SC2 came out. Looking at the TLPD list of tournies in 2002 it's actually pretty much impossible since I've probably watched more games than were actually played in the entirety of 2002 and I doubt you watched every single game. Lagging in professional games IS extremely rare and a lot of the time it is because of a mistake by the tournament organizers rather than bnet 2.0.

because the only replays are of professional major tournaments.....

It was 2002. Competitive gaming was nothing compared to what it is in 2010 and beyond.

I mean hell, back in 1998 to SC 1.08 patch you READ what happened in the match. Battlereports son.

You read the articles yet?

Battle.net 2.0 clearly works.

http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/oitq0/how_blizzard_killed_a_tournament/

Summary: whenever a tournament's run, the tournament gets freaking blacklisted and no one can log on until someone phones Blizzard and gets them to fix it. Literally cost a guy $1200 personally since he shelled all that out to get the venue/equipment for a free-entry tourney. Happens every MLG according to inControl (seriously? they ****ing advertise that **** on battle.net) and from Thorzain it happened during Blizzcon Europe qualifiers. Yes, THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR OWN TOURNAMENTS, that is the extent of how broken it is. Oh, and it took hours to fix at Blizzcon Europe!

Battle.net 2.0: totally for eSports. No, the system's ****ing broken and it's because they want crappy DRM that doesn't stop jack.

I like that there's a one account per CD Key in Starcraft II. In Warcraft 3 it isn't like that and it's a huge problem, since the majority of your ladder matches are gonna be against troll or smurf accounts. The only way to really enjoy that game is to find some cool people to play with and just play custom games.

The rest of bnet 2.0 though, no thanks. It's pretty bad and a definitely in line with what's wrong with the gaming industry right now.

I have always been of the opinion that Blizzard is an excellent developer, who really cares about their product and hopes to put out something good.

I have been hyped for D3, but very cautiously so. Articles like these though are extremely interesting and really give me faith in the game and the developer. I'm almost definitely gonna buy this game day 1 now.
