Rule Discussion:
I will hear any and all discussions on rule changes, and if there is overwhelming argument to switch something up we'll go with it. Things I feel most strongly about however and will need exceptionally good arguments to change: UltraAirForce and crew are still banned. Rallying is still banned. Trading is still not banned.

Also, I nominate Prince Larg. I remember it bugging everyone when I would save him throughout the 1-save rounds. Additionally, if anyone here is unhappy to see me in this topic (basically everyone other than the anime crew), just realize that I would never have noticed this topic if not for being notified via IM. For returner/new character split I suggest just not using any rules at all (that is, just take the most nominated characters regardless of their having appeared before or not). Do we really need quotas distorting preferences? Why, really?

Including new characters for the sake of having new characters is a bit of a waste of time if you look at history; most of them go down before even reaching booted safety. This contest is very old and we've seen just about every major character that needs to be in this contest, until new games with more characters are released.

10/13 contests have a newcomer placing in the top 20. (Only the groups led by Seymour, Setzer, and Ultros failed to do so).

Even then, newer characters that have stumbled in their debuts have come on to be stronger in return appearances (Ultros jumped 50 spots over one contest, Zack jumped 40 over two, etc) The fact that it is such an old contest is the reason I think there needs to be a small chunk of new blood every year, it keeps things from stagnating.

If we solely wanted notoriety I would make it main party characters and call it a day. Any character can make a run given a dedicated support base and I like to see things kept fresh is all.
