My cousin's a huge douche, and he's making thousands of dollars a day betting on the NFL.
I'm sitting here in my room playing NHL 11 and getting excited when I win once every fifty tries.

I recently quit drinking excessively. I now drink "somewhat less than excessively but still on a regular basis." I haven't noticed any changes in quality of life... but that's a good thing because it tells me that I can maintain my quality of life while drinking a bit less than I did previously

well that was a nice walk in the - 6 weather Coupla smokes, a drink, shorts and a t shirt. very awakening listened to the Brian Boitano song five times because I was too lazy to switch it. gonna have a few more drinks, and a couple of more smokes. good times, and bad times.

No. If you are truly serious about this, then you need to learn restraint. If you can, as you say, "do it yourself", then starting by stopping at this very moment is a necessity. You'll immediately feel what it's like to withhold yourself of something you were looking forward to.
