Well the Iowa portion is definitely wrong. I was at their house show in Cedar Rapids recently and between that and his reaction in Des Moines Iowa is clearly pro-Cena.

No, he probably just said it to make the kid feel better. I don't think he was banking on the news being spread.

I have freely admitted, that while he is absolutely destroying Wrestling as a whole, that I have met the guy in real life when I work WWE shows, and I have met him at OVW events. He is not at all a bad guy in that way. I JUST HATE HIS CHARACTER SO EVERLOVING MUCH I DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REAL GUY ANYMORE.

So you literally want a good person to die because you hate his character?

Meh. I've never been a big Kennedy/Anderson fan. He's better on the mic than a lot of people, but overrated there IMO.

In-ring I haven't seen anything too special out of him. His best singles matches have been with Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle, and I can't think of a single other memorable one.

Debut against Mysterio, the same month against Booker T, his entire feud with Taker and his best match is against Batista at the rumble (which is VERY underrated),

From: SmartMuffin | #445
Yeah, I'm with Jak on this one.

Even in TNA, the whole "I'm an a****** lol" thing was ridiculously over.... for about a month. Then he started getting repetitive and the fans were like, "okay, what ELSE do you have?" and he kinds shrugged his shoulders and they had to turn him heel just for the sake of getting SOMETHING new out of him.

Disagree here. Yes, *******s was way over, but I feel the heel turn was one part loltna and one part it naturally fit Anderson's character to join Immortal to hang onto the title (even though it cost him the title). And as soon as he didn't need their help he immediately turned and went against Bubba.

His WWE promo style was similiar to Rocks and his workrate in the ring is actually really close to Rock as well. I agree his injuries cant be overlooked, but the bigger issue was one bad move on Orton. They needed to ride him out, and he needs to come back to WWE. I guarentee a big pop if he bails on TNA and comes back on a random raw.

So I was listening to the radio and MARK MADDEN of all people decided to lay into Michael Cole for his commentary.

The gist of it was this.

Madden got fired for burying the faces(especially DDP) as a heel color commentator. Michael Cole does far more damaging burials, all based on factual statements every week and Vince TELLS HIM HOW TO DO IT, which is just the most absurd thing.

He says he recognizes now that he was no heenan and he was damaging the talent, but that Cole does the same stuff only far, far worse, especially when it comes to former indy stars like Bryan and Punk.

This is like that time Kennedy made fun of Orton for getting injured....

God damn you have got to be kidding me.

It's like everything wrong with WWE always leads right back to Vince. It's as though everyone below him is competent and things can only go wrong when he gets involved, which is often.

So apparently last RAW was the second lowest rated RAW since 1997. Granted, it was going up against the National Championship but apparently Ryder's segment with Eve tanked really hard.

Wasn't the lowest rated RAW since 1997 the one right after TLC? Where the IWC Champions celebrated their titles?

Well this was a throwaway Raw anyway since it was up against a Bowl Game (which has also been the reason I'm still hopeful for CM Punk getting a microphone and main event time next week), but either way this is good news! Well, not for Zack Ryder it's not. But for CM Punk and Daniel Bryan it is!

I've heard for weeks now that Ryder's segments tank hard because casual fans just don't give a crap about the guy. Some say it's his gimmick, others say it's because he's jobbed for so long that suddenly getting all this screen time makes WWE look desperate and depleted of talent to casual viewers, and then some say Ryder really just doesn't have anything worth watching at all and the only reason he's gotten this far is because of the IWC. I'm of the mindset that it's mostly the second with some of the first.

Taz left for that same reason as well.

EDIT: It does give an extra reason to watch NXT and Superstars though. Vince is only micromanaging the commentary on Raw, SD, and PPVs. Everyone's much looser and IMO better on the smaller shows, with the exception of Regal constantly trying to tiptoe around saying "wrestler" or "wrestling" too much.

I just see people repost it from the Observer Newsletter on random forums.

This is the one from this week:

aw on 1/9 got hammered by the second most watched television show in the history of cable television.

The Alabama vs. LSU BCS championship football game did a 16.22 rating and 24.21 million viewers. The only show in the history of cable to do more viewers was last year’s BCS championship game on January 10, 2011, with Oregon vs. Auburn that did a 17.76 rating and 27.32 million viewers. The third biggest would be an October 5, 2009, edition of Monday Night Football that did a 15.3 rating and 21.84 million viewers.

While Raw was a blah show, most people knew ahead of time it was a show where you shouldn’t throw too much out because any kind of big angle would be wasted and should be saved for 1/16, when the January ratings bounce back should start building for the next three weeks. If that doesn’t happen, then it’s something to worry about.

The show did a 2.86 rating and 4.00 million viewers. It was 9th for the night on cable, with four of the eight shows that beat them being related to coverage of the game in some form. Notable is that NCIS, the show at 8 p.m. on USA, did 4.18 million viewers (the game started at 8:30 p.m. but the pre-game show on ESPN did monster numbers as well). But NCIS doesn’t draw the heavy male demo that both football and pro wrestling do. NCIS beating Raw I think has only happened once.

The show did a 2.5 in Male teens (up 9%), a 2.7 in Males 18-49 (down 4%), 1.3 in Women teens (up 44%) and 1.1 in Women 18-49 (down 8%). The show did 68.7% male viewers.

In the segment-by-segment, Sheamus & Santino Marella vs. Wade Barrett & Jinder Mahal lost 238,000 viewers. Edge Hall of Fame package, Zack Ryder and Eve Torres backstage and Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston gained 100,000 viewers. The debut of Brodus Clay vs. Curt Hawkins plus Miz trying to recruit Primo & Epico lost 82,000 viewers. C.M. Punk vs. Jack Swagger gained 128,000 viewers and did a 3.00 rating in the 10 p.m. slot, which is terrible for the slot. Backstage stuff with Bellas and Miz and Ricardo Rodriguez, Cena and Ryder and the Four Horsemen vignette lost 193,000 viewers, which is actually much better than that segment usually does. The segment with R-Truth beating on Rodriguez and the Miz/R-Truth brawl, plus the second appearance of the mute Chris Jericho lost 130,000 viewers. Okay, this is something that is noteworthy. Eve Torres in the ring, Kane’s music hitting, Ryder trying to save her, getting her in the car and trying to change the tire lost 544,000 viewers and did a 2.39 quarter. To lose that many viewers that late in the show before the main event is something significant. And John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler and the conclusion of that segment gained 640,000 viewers, which is normal level, but it still was only a 2.84 overrun, which is the second lowest overrun figure (even the show that did a 2.71 in September hit 3.03 for the overrun), behind only the week they did Punk & Bryan & Ziggler in the trios match, dating back to 1997.

As far as growth for Cena vs. Ziggler, Male teens went from 2.4 to 2.6, Males 18-49 from 2.3 to 2.6, Teenage girls from 1.0 to 1.2 and Women 18-49 from 0.8 to 1.0.

So...Ryder and Eve=viewers, Ryder and Cena=no viewers, and Ryder changing a tire=ARE YOU SERIOUS BRO?

Pretty much all segments last raw lost viewers, including the Funkassaurus, which I find rather sad.

I can't imagine Punk would listen to Vince if he wanted Punk to say something Punk disagreed with.

Supposedly Vince's absolute biggest pet peeve, even moreso than calling title belts "belts," is excessive pronoun usage. He DEMANDS proper nouns whenever possible.

Are...you serious bro? >.>

just googled some random raw segments rating and got this:

"In the segment breakdown, the show's opening quarter did a nice 3.85 rating but the second part of the Triple H and Kevin Nash angle lost 612,000 viewers. Randy Orton and Sheamus vs. Christian and Cody Rhodes gained 232,000 of those viewers back while Santino Marella vs. Dolph Ziggler lost 445,000 more.

The segment with CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio and John Laurinaitis gained 466,000 viewers while Alicia Fox vs. Natalya lost a whopping 981,000 viewers. John Morrison vs. Wade Barrett gained 16,000 viewers and the main event of John Cena vs. The Miz and R-Truth gained 723,000 viewers bringing the overrun to a 3.42 rating."

The 30 minute opening promos are not working, they could've done the nash thing in 15 minutes hence the lost in viewers. Nice to see the tag match got like a 3.6 rating. And ADR and Punk were able to get some viewers back. They got but raped by the divas match.

I don't know. but it's awful. they have 2 girls with any semblance of wrestling ability (Beth and Nattie), and they have one of them job out every week to a random scrub like Fox or K2. Eve is ok sometimes.

who would want to watch 30 second matches between these people? anybody who cares about women's wrestling will go somewhere else to watch it. TNA's Knockout Division is way better, and of course there's SHIMMER and stuff like that.

Speaking of Chyna, it looks like her strip show was a decent success for her first time dancing.

I'd compare her dancing ability to Hulk Hogan's wrestling ability. She was not too great technically, but able to put on a show and use what she has to entertain to get the crowd to react loudly.

Also she danced to DX's theme, which is the thing I probably find most amusing about the whole story.

Dr. Aaron Perlut, Chairman of the American Mustache Institute, says he is upset with Hulk Hogan's plans to shave off his mustache, saying Hogan is "seen as a longtime leading figure in the sexually dynamic Mustached American community."

Perlut says, "Not only would the removal of his lower nose foliage cause angels in heaven to die and fall to earth -- as is written in biblical texts -- but it would send a poor message to young people of Mustached American descent who wish to embrace the Mustached American experience."

"We do hope that Mr. Hogan, for whom we have great reverence, reconsiders shaving his upper lip shading device as millions of those he has inspired would be greatly let down, leading to mass chaos and deep bouts of depression in the Mustached American community."

If Ryder really is hurt, it is concievable they'd put the strap on swagger.

Ryder's not in a midcard feudand hecan play cenas wingman without actually wrestling.

Plus brodus, mason, and a ry areall faces and conveniently also theonly guys also in the midcard at all.

JTG and Tyson Kidd not withstanding

“I knew Ray Lloyd from WCW when my dad used to bring me around there,” [Cody] Rhodes told WWE.com. “But I was quite surprised when I found out he was going to be the health and lacrosse coach at my high school.”

That...that's a joke institute or something right?

No way it can be serious with things like "lower nose foliage" and "upper lip shading device".

You know, a thought just occurred to me. Maybe in the WWE logic, hiring models instead of actual wrestling trained women = success for their product. Think about it for a minute. In the last few years, what former Divas have some semblance of mainstream media attention? Candice Michelle (Go-Daddy ads/Playboy), Stacy Keibler (Dancing With the Stars/boinking George Clooney) and Torrie Wilson (Playboy Twice, now boinking Alex Rodriguez.) None of these women were hired based on previous wrestling experience, yet they have found success elsewhere.

Maybe WWE hires models so that, once they find popularity while either still under the WWE contract or after being released, they can use the "we found them, therefore we should get credit" card. They hope the K2's, Eve's, and other models they got fall under the same path, hence why they are pushed constantly.

Or you know, maybe I'm thinking too much into this.

No, you're pretty much right.

They stopped caring about making the Divas divsion centered around wrestling sometime in the middle of last decade.

Kelly, Layla, and Brooke doing Playboy would have set them up as draws for years to come. I forget why it fell through.
