SVU is the best comedy on NBC, and that's not easy.

I am inclined to agree.

Yes! My all-time favourite episode, it was so satisfying. And Steven Weber is his attorney and always ruins their s*** too.

And the way the ending plays out, with the song playing... love that episode so much. I'm gonna rewatch it right now!

i've been all about SVU on Netflix lately. I love both that and the episode in season 7, Venom, where the shenanigans begin. Don't know why it took so long for them to close the circle on it, maybe some ideas about realism regarding pacing?

Maybe, but also with so many bombs being dropped & cliffhangers, it had to be a season finale, and there was too little time between Venom & the end of the season.

Plus Ludacris probably had some other filming obligations so they were able to work it into his schedule better a year down the line. In all honesty I think you're spot-on about the realism of pacing, though.

The first SVU episode I ever saw was the Martin Short one and I was instantly hooked (I mean... it's Martin Short! Talk about playing against type). I watched new eps & caught everything in syndication. Watched the first episode this season and that was it, no Stabler, no SVU for me. It got pretty bad the past few seasons anyways...

I love SVU. It really does give you a strong sense of catharsis.

Like, I hate murderers and thieves and all, but seeing a rapist or child abuser (sexual or otherwise) get taken down feels so justified on a more visceral level.

It also has the best characters of all the Law & Orders. They feel the most human, and the most real.

As much as I love CI's Detective Goren, he comes off as a bit of a crime-solving colossus, rather than a real person.

This may be true if you're only counting the last few years.

The original Law & Order for the first half of its incredibly long life and SVU for its first couple seasons were the only ones that felt anything close to real.

SVU now is a parody of police procedurals.

I saw the first episode ever and I never previously realized that the detective who was eventually replaced by Ice T is the same dude who plays Mayhem in the All State insurance commercials.
