No source but I read an article about it in a serious scientific magazine.

Apparently there are satellites that will send data that might confirm the existence (or nonexistence) or parallel universes.

Hell yes.

They say that if two universes collided with one another that it would leave a mark in both of them. I guess that's what we're looking for.

I was kind of joking about the singularity part, but it's pretty clear to see what even in the last year we had some amazing scientific discoveries that I know I would not have been able to believe we would reach (this soon) even 5 years ago. I look at the first cell phone I bought in 2007 and the one I bought just last summer and they don't even seem like the same "thing". I honestly can't even imagine where we'll be in another 10 years, let alone 30... I'm not saying it's going to happen, but I won't be the least but surprised if his prediction turns out to be true.

I don't hate Science, neither does most of our state (Eastern Kentucky probably doesn't know what it is, or how to spell it, but not the rest of the state). I hate discussion of things like this. Even if parallel universes do exist (they don't) the fact that these people think we'd ever be able to know is just unbelievable. These universes would not collide, as they would not even be on the same physical plain as our own. And this is why these conversations are stupid.

Hasn't this been pretty much verified to have been an error in the original experiment? That seemed most likely from the beginning anyway.

I agree that this conversation is stupid, but you are probably the worst offender here.

And the fact that you would dismiss something entirely without reading it probably does mean you hate science. You kinda have to at least read the article before dismissing it as pointless trash.

The last I heard, the methodology still sounded kind of dodgy and that was in December, after this article was published, but it wasn't a print source that talked about it.

Even if parallel universes do exist (they don't)

And you have proof that they don't? Pretty bold assertion to make without experimentation don't you think?

the fact that these people think we'd ever be able to know is just unbelievable.

Searching for what is and is not is kinda what science is all about.

These universes would not collide, as they would not even be on the same physical plain as our own. And this is why these conversations are stupid.

Another unfounded assertion. Amazing how you have privileged knowledge as to how dimensional collision works. You could offer these insights to the scientific community and save them a lot of trouble actually researching things!

Seriously though, you are free to think such musings are stupid, but it is through such discussions and endless curiosity (as opposed to predefined assertions that reality is a specific way) that new knowledge is gained and new technologies developed.

LOL at the peasants in this topic seriously believing they're entitled to an opinion on science they wouldn't understand in a thousand years.

To put the parallel universe thing in simple terms, imagine each universe as a soap bubble floating about. Every so often they collide, bouncing against eachother and releasing energy from the impact. That energy is what they're looking for.

I heard that the neutrino experiment was proven false, they forget to account for the delay between the satellites and the rotation of the earth, which is, incidentally, one of Einstein's proven concepts of relatively anyway.

Which is sort of the manifestation of Einstein teabagging scientists from the grave.

hell, we're not that far away from flying cars at last now that we've actually created flying objects. two different types at that, one to lift them on magnets, another to have something the size of a basketball fly around with a top speed of 30 mph.

How do we know this is how a parallel universe works? I'm asking honestly since I don't know. Has there been some kind of breakthrough recently, evidence or what not or are they just basing this off of a guess?

I'm not saying they can't exist and I'm sure they do. I'm just skeptical on how we'd find them and identify them.
