If I were to record gameplay on my computer screen, what video capturing software should I use?

I already know about Fraps, but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives.
Is there an option that wouldn't cost be too much?
Is there an option that wouldn't cost me anything?

Also, this is namely for Let's Play purposes.
