Powerwise, the best ones are neutral (but you should try to max your Light/Dark one way or the other, there's no benefit in staying in the middle).

I'd say the Dark playthrough is easier since you have an easier time getting money and so on, but it is annoying since the most useful members in your party are usually good and will get mad at you every time you do something bad. However, the most entertaining members are evil, so take that as you will.

I have a difficult time being evil in any game that effectively builds sympathy towards characters. It's no problem in the Fable series, but I could barely manage it in KotOR.

You see the front of your character all the time. Like in conversations.

I always chose the one with the soul patch because he looks awesome when you go Dark Side. Otherwise yeah I agree they all suck.

Broken mouse sucks, I know how you feel. I have a laser mouse and it isn't working well. Like the buttons are fine, it's just the laser is messed up or something and its response is crap.

So I have to use the touch pad.

so yea UGLO is in my party and after running along the walls for 5 minutes I finally leave the damn room

we engage in battle FOR THE REPUBLIC and uh, it takes me another 5 minutes to figure out how to fight

I was clicking the attack button for like 5 minutes and it wasn't working

I don't what I did but he FINALLY ran over there and started swinging his metal sword

thats another thing

well anyways, we dispatched and then we witness like 5 of our allies ****ing get murdered before like 7 enemies turn their attention on us

AGAIN, I have no idea how to fight, so I end up making him run head first into a barrage of lasers and hes almost dead now

it was actually kinda funny, he picked out the only swordsman of the group and I engage him in swordplay as the others are just standing there taking pot shots at me. This is pathetic <_>

now my dude is running around holding his stomach, I guess I'm about to die, I can't see his lifebar anywhere

then we find two jedis fighting, UGLO is like DUDE DON"T GET IN THE WAY, THEY"RE JEDI AND S****

then the chick Jedi wins, and then a random explosion happens and UGLO is like OH NOES, SHE COULD"VE BEEN HELPFUL!

You have a metal sword because you're not a Jedi. Swords do exist in the Star Wars universe.

Also use the space bar to pause the game so you can see what enemies are around, then click on one to target. Press space to unpause and start attacking. Your character should continue to attack, but just to make sure you gotta hit the attack button that hovers over the enemy you're targeting. You also use that to switch through various attacks and Force powers and stuff (by clicking the little up/down arrows).

Yes, the quick pause option is really helpful. You can plan strategies and stack up to four automatic moves for each party member.

If you're playing on normal, or even hard, you don't really have to do any of that and just choose your own attacks.

Also, while you might be tempted to level a lot, but depending on what class you chose (Soldier, Scout, Scoundrel) you should hold off on leveling (you can actually not level except for the one time your forced to at the start of teh game) until you get to where you become a Jedi. The game caps you at 20, so it's important since more Jedi levels means more Force Powers and Force Points. Solider gets a lot of bonus feats which are useful, so it's viable to take it farther.

Ideally if you want to be a super force user to hold off on leveling as long as you can, and if you want to bash things with a lightsaber you can just level at will. Scout (the middleground) is okay, and you get some offensive options, but I never found it to be as powerful as a straight up hack and slash or just Force Waving everything.

Also I never have to do that saving levels thing anymore because mods are awesome and allow me to be a Jedi from the start.

You can be any class in the beginning of the game and still get Force Jump. Last couple times I played, I opted with Scout > Jedi Guardian to get the Scout's bonuses at the start and Force Jump later on.



Also PUN, heed this advice just in case

Do not look into ANYTHING about The Old Republic MMO that just launched. That game is loaded with spoilers for both KotOR games.

guys I don't think this is gonna work

as I've said, me using the mouse to play a 3D game is so alien to me, I don't think I can get used to it

and again, as I've said, my mouse is broken. I have to fight with it to move left and right, the left button doesn't work well so I've actually switched the functions of the buttons and made it into a lefty mouse, yet I still use it with my right hand. so its stupidity stacked on stupidity with something I can't get used to

so sorry for getting hopes up
