I never felt lost watching any of the movies, and like I said I never read the books. But I think that's why, since you have read them you know what's been changed and you think it doesn't make sense because of it.

I just remembered a question. So in HBP they figure out from the memory that Voldemort made seven horcruxes. Now from my recollection, Harry and the others only destroy six. The journal, the ring, the locket, the goblet, the tiara thing, and the snake. Now you say Harry is the last one, but Harry wasn't alive when Voldemort was talking about them in that memory, and besides that he made Harry one on accident. So what am I not getting?

I only saw the movies and I enjoyed them. sure, there are dozens of characters that you don't know and the overall story gets rushed through a bit, but that's okay. they're fun. a little overdramatic, but fun.

yeah it's a pretty meaningful name if you forget hagrid exists

like harry apparently did

But Hagrid was alive.

Harrys kids were named for the Dead people in his life.

I guess you make a good point there, Bellis. I just sorta want to believe that Snape really did care but couldn't find the way to show it.

Voldy meant to split his soul into seven PIECES, not make seven HORCRUXES. Six horcruxes plus Voldy himself = 7 slices of soul.

Harry was the accidental 7th horcrux (although tecnhically 6th since Nagini the snake was made into a horcrux later).

He only intended to make six actually. He wanted to make six Horcruxes because that would divide his soul into seven pieces. Seven is seen as the strongest number in wizardlore, so Voldemort believed he would be invincible if his soul was split into seven. And he probably would have, except he messed up. When he "killed" Harry, he accidentally made him a seventh Horcrux, splitting his soul into eight and thus making himself vulnerable.

Also of note, he had originally intended to make the four Hogwarts founder objects (Hufflepuff's goblet, Ravenclaw's crown, Gryffindor's sword, and Slytherin's locket) and the three Deathly Hallows (Stone, Cloak, and Wand) into his Horcruxes, but as he was not a "True Gryffindor" he could never obtain the sword (plus Dumbledore was watching his every move so he couldn't just steal it), and after a while he no longer found the other Hallows worth his time so he settled on Nagini and his diary.

Then shouldn't Lily Luna Potter be Lily Nymphadora Potter instead?

I for one have no gripes about Hagrid not being a namesake in either of Harry's sons. 1) He's kind of a big, bumbling oaf, and 2) Any life-saving he did up until Book 6 was on Dumbledore's orders. I guess the same could be said of Snape, but his connection to Harry transcends that of Hagrid's and even goes back a generation. Either way, he was right to give his son the primary name of "Albus" even if it kind of blows considering Dumbledore whether directly or otherwise has saved his ass more than any other one person ever has. Also "Albus Hagrid" doesn't blow any less than "Albus Severus".

That would be seven horcruxes though, one too many. <_<

And there were never more than six horcruxes alive at a time. When he accidentally turned Harry into a form of Horcrux, at that point Voldy's soul WAS divided into the magically signficant seven pieces, and it didn't help him. I'm pretty sure that Rowling has confirmed that the whole "seven" thing was wishful thinking by Voldy and not based on any actual magical reality.

My bad. Just the wand and the founder objects according to the wikia. And the diary I guess.

Ah. Wizardlore is like any other lore then.

OK, that stuff about the horcruxes makes enough sense. I guess I'm also wondering, why exactly was Harry able to come back to life in the first place? Was it because when he was killed the piece of voldemort was released, thus somehow giving him a second chance or something?

The power of love or some s***.

Actually I can't remember the exact reason. You mean in DH2 right? Not when he was a baby? Dumbledore explained it but I'm seriously drawing a blank.
