So weve cornered Andy and Kyle in the Swarts stairwell and then this guy comes out of NO WHERE like ****ing Batman or something. ; ExTha is the man
Past few months means like a few times maybe 4/6 months ago.
Anyway, no time for rap battling this semester. Too many other projects going on, but I will be sure to vote every round. Maybe sign up for a replacement if I get hooked like usual.

its sad how you dislike me when im one of the most likeable people on this board - Palmer on board politics.
Palmer was part of a new wave of users around the 2007 mark (dubbed the pop culture weirdo crew by me right now). These guys were mostly renowned for
- Not liking the contest despite posting on a contest message board. - Posting mostly late at night. - Not getting involved in drama, user contests, contest discussion or anything else that might be considered popular by the board. - 90% of their post content discussing pop culture events, fast food and the quality of a girls ass.
If I were to describe the late night crew in an image, I think it'd be this one.
Palmer was seen as one of the more predominant people in this group because of his many endearing characteristics that made him popular amongst the rest of the community. He's generally very positive, usually humble and is the anti-serious hero just out for a good time.
Points of Impact
-> Credited with the creation of many strange fads and gimmicks. Between LARD, driving around in farms, notorious bad opinions, package discussion and fast food FAQs he's got quite a reputation in this area. -> Winner of the 2010 character battle. Naturally something that should be a proud and joyous moment was turned into a whinefest by palmer. -> Arguably the strongest user for creating small talking points, jokes or mini drama-sprees throughout the boards history. He never quite had any moments hit the highs of significance of others. But he certainly had the quantity and consistency of supply.
Notable Moment:
Palmer gained somewhat of a reputation for regular pity trips based on his constant put downs of himself. He was a guy who absolutely loved to wade in his own self pity and was quite often knee deep in it. No moreso than during his regular account closures and "leaving the board forever" moments. Were it not for MWIS, Palmer may very well win the prize for most whine capacity in board history.

Heroic Palmer is what I'd call memorable but not influential in the least. In fact you kinda said as much in your post but apparently don't understand what influential means, since I'm not sure not getting involved in anything and "but he certainly had the quantity and consistency of supply" are exactly hallmarks of an influential person.
Which I suppose is a step up from the other "not influential in the least" guys on this list, being memorable.
No offense to Palmer intended for any of that mind you because I certainly don't think influence is anything that matters on this board anyway. (seeing how little I've contributed to the culture of this board despite being here so long, I couldn't really live with myself if I did!)

I tried to have a fierce rivalry with SuperNiceDog, but he made me look worse than a GameFAQs Contest!
I'm pretty sure the case is that Smurf just randomly grabs a list of 50 users people have heard of that he remembers and throws them in an arbitrary sequence
Then in some cases with like omegamanexe some people don't even remember the guy and it backfires for humorous effect
Or we can just say he doesn't know what influential means and he did mean memorable. Whichever.

The list is ranking those based on board influence. Those whose significance shaped the board into the community and with the reputation it has today. It is not a list for those who may have the greatest sum total of personal influence on individuals. Board influence =/= personal influence
I've said this before but clearly for Lopens benefit it needs to be repeated.
I'll keep a copy of it for a 3rd serving when its slipped your memory the next time.
So you know what influence means by definition, but your list, and hell, even the write-ups explanations of the alleged "influence," don't lend themselves to that criteria. That shows you have an incomplete grasp of the true meaning of the word. It's understandable, though, as I assume English is not your native language.

If this were a list on personal influence and people who have caused a direct change in behaviour to other people (which seems like how some people are understanding it) it'd be nothing but people with weird posting styles (sbp, transience), those who made dumb words or fads (ertyu, kapik) and the likes of SHINE or HM who endlessly spam game details to influence purchases.
When you're speaking about influence to a community, a place, a unit, a complex mesh of things that isn't just a person the criteria to being influential is different. It's about creating trends, laying foundations that are later built on, stimulating the community and impacting on the entitys reputation. Memorable moments are a factor but it isn't ranking on those either.
Hope that clears it up, although I'm sure there'll be more Lopens with "dur hur dat isnt inflewanz" posts before the list is out.
Tranny top 5 for basically leading the transition from the "massive and extremely creative board projects" era of 2003-2005 to the "casual lounge/discussion" era of 05-present
The board used to be so very different

If I was on the list I'd actually argue I shouldn't be on it either! That being said I'm about as influential as half the people on this list so far because they're not either. I know what you're claiming you're trying to do with this list, but your entrants and more importantly your write-ups don't really back that. You say "creating trends laying foundations blah blah" so how did SDR, omegaman, and the jp start trends? I don't recall any trends or foundations they set up, and you didn't in your write-ups either.
Best I can think of is people blasting jp made it okay to blast people more often? But #1 that's a stretch and #2 that wasn't the rationale for your write-up-- wasn't even mentioned. You said he's the "set the standard for fat users on b8"... apparently there's a big fat guy userbase hovering around out there that I'm unaware of and it's all thanks to the jp. Color me surprised! You can say "at the time" some people made a fool of themselves roasting the guy but then jp left and no one really thought about it again. That's not what I really call influence, that's what I call reaction to an event. The case for SDR and omegaman is even weaker.

Which is why you low rated Heroic Mario because he had very little personal influence on you, as you said?
Heck, this board's love of ridiculous lists with ridiculous writeups (such as this one) was pretty much spawned by the guy.

HM's Cloud writeup was 13 full posts haha

I think Leon's 5 post write-up on Ryu was more impressive considering it's... Ryu.
Gosh I wish HM was still an insane person when he put Wander on his list though. Having that guy drone on for 8 posts about someone with less personality and less of a story than most potted plants would be wonderful.

I don't think I actually ended up reading his Cloud writeup. I was taking a break from the board when he wrote it, I think, but I heard tales of its infamy.

"Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" "Witness! You can't just say 'Hello' and expect us to get anywhere! I want you to testify!"
Oh cool I'm on this. Though if omegaman can make almost anyone can -_- <3 love the writeup too though I've been here since 04 though I wasn't known at all till 07 really can't believe its been 5 years
