Moo-may suggested it to me a few months back and since I finally had some time (and a fortuitous amazon gift card to help me load up my Kindle), I started it.

I've been nose deep in the books ever since. I went through the first one pretty quick, but the second one has taken me three days to nearly finish. It's a lot of fun. The world that Sanderson has set up is pretty neat (even though we've really seen very little of it) and the whole concept of Allomancy is pretty genius IMO. It has me wishing that it were real so that I could use pewter and atium to dominate at sports. Can you imagine a baseball player with pewter/tin/atium? Broken beyond belief.

Pretty much anything Brandon Sanderson writes is top tier.

Man, using atium for sports is like using an AK-47 to kill flies.

Allomancy's definitely one of the best magic systems I've ever seen in fantasy, great stuff. The things iron and steel can do are pretty nuts, and as a whole it makes for some great fight scenes. I normally don't like fight scenes in fantasy but Mistborn makes them come alive.

Definitely one of my favourite fantasy series, glad you're enjoying it! The third book does some stuff I don't care for and isn't quite up to the level of the first two, but it's still good. Do enjoy. :)

This. Love everything the guy writes, and his podcasts.

Sanderson wrote a novella set after the third book and he is planning another trilogy in the Mistborn world set 400 years or so after(somebody correct me with the exact numbers) using a steampunkish scenario, which I think will be amazing.

I've heard good things, and since he's the one that got tagged to finish up WoT, I know I need to.

This just makes me want to read it more. ^_^

See I'd heard that the 1st and 3rd books were the best but the 2nd lagged behind, and I'm liking the 2nd one so much more.

I'm weird though. I have a tendency to like things people say I shouldn't.

Heh, second is my favourite, actually, but 1 puts up a good fight. 2 has a couple extra characters I really like, and the politics stuff it goes for is up my alley.

Still, they're all good!

I've only read the first. I own the second and third, though. I should probably read them at some point.

*Does not read topic*

Just got the trilogy for Christmas from a friend. Curious to see what it's like.

Just finished Well of Ascension.

It strikes me how long these books are and how unnoticeable that is when I'm reading them on Kindle. I seriously ripped through Well of Ascension in about four days. Good stuff! I have another project to work on but I imagine I'll finish Hero of Ages really quickly.

I actually predicted what would happen at the end of Well of Ascension pretty early on. That thumping in Vin's head reminded me so much of the tapping that The Master was going through in Doctor Who, so I knew it was something sinister calling for her, much in the same way the tapping was The Time Lords contacting The Master through the Time Lock.

Anyway, I loved it none-the-less. Vin was such a f***ing badass coming back to Luthadel like that, but I can't help but be saddened. She's had to change so much as a character. I loved her back when she was unsure of herself, imitating a noblewoman and coming into her own as a Mistborn. Now she's all powerful, and trying to adapt to this role as someone that is a near deity and it makes her character seem so much more dramatic. Also I was crushed to find out that OreSeur was an imposter. He was literally my favorite character throughout the first half of the book, and watching 'his' relationship with Vin develop was so great. I really hope some day I'm able to create characters like that, who have roles to complement and enhance my main characters so wonderfully.

I really hope that TenSoon is able to come back though. I feel that he will. I think he compliments Vin too well, but who knows.

This Sanderson guy is very good. I'm happy that I was turned to him!

All you cats who have Mistborn but haven't read it yet, GET TO IT!
