AoE2 is still hella fun on lan whenever you're with other people who enjoy it. Same with other great RTS games of its time, like Red Alert 2.
Played Starcraft 2 though, TC? It's the first 3D RTS I've felt has recaptured the quality and addictiveness of the genre. Mostly because it's pretty much a classic 2D RTS with polygons.
Yeah, I like Starcraft 2 but I'm really terrible at it because it goes too fast, AoE 2 is about right speed wise

That's always my problem as well.
I like building up giant towns with fortifications and great defense, but by the time I am half done in Starcraft I have been rushed and had most of my work/troops wiped out.
