Man I remember running through that first area in the WoW BC expansion as a level 45 Mage to get Master Herbalism and corpse hopping to the trainer cuz I would get one-shot

As someone who plays the game, the first one is exactly like it sounds... The email specifically mentions loot containers on Ilum so it's not the PvP exploit you guys mentioned. Lower level players were dying/corpse hopping to loot containers on Ilum (level 40+ zone) and camping them. We're talking about standing there for hours and looting them repeatedly. Some may call this fair play but BioWare apparently doesn't feel that way.

There's this funny thing wow figured out years ago(before launch, to be specific) and no doubt countless other mmos have copied since: if you don't want people using gear higher level than them, put a level requirement on it. Herp durp. Now if this is about something less significant than gear, like gold or crafting mats, I don't know what to say. Wow has some restrictions on using low level characters for farming high level stuff, but it's real lenient in general. It's nothing as heavy handed as hurrr hurrr, this is a level 40 zone, your level 34 character can't be here period, hurr hurrr.

I mean if you want to corpse hop and keep dying trying to farm items as a level 10 guy, that should be fine, because the level 40/50 guy would be able to do the same way easier, so the balance is achieved.

Would it be cool if I corpse hopped and camped these containers as an appropriately levelled character?

If so, why does being low level matter?

If not, why the **** are you able to loot these things to begin without doing whatever objective to begin with?

You can't even corpse hop in swtor because the time to revive on place goes up exponentially after each death so you'd soon have to wait 1h just to respawn, so being able to farm those containers at a low level is a feat in itself.
