I had no idea the demand had dropped that much.

To be honest I had tried trading the invite before I gave it to you, but I wasn't sure if it would be 1 invite or 3 invites so I ended up just giving it away to make sure I didn't accidentally "scam" someone if they were expecting 3.

I want to try DotA 2 at some point, but since I have no experience whatsoever in the genre, I feel like I should wait until the game is actually released so I'm not the only newbie.

Dota 2 is incredibly unfriendly right now to newbies. There's no tutorial or explanation for anything, and you can't even view the shop outside of matches so learning items is a nightmare.

There are people that are learning it for their first time, but it's by no means easy and you'll probably get fairly frustrated. Probably best to wait so you don't give up without it having a fair chance.

There's a ton of newbies (or awful people, at any rate) in the beta right now, but Ness is right. If you're totally new to the genre, DotA 2 hasn't added the stuff you'll need to learn it just yet. Your best options for getting into the genre are either playing LoL or doing a bunch of reading, I'd say.

So it's just like it was in WC3. Wasn't too much of a problem when I played every once in a while in my WC3 days. You just learn as you go.
