But, no on ever thinks of how f***ed up it is to give other people present on your birthday. I was thinking about this last night, being born on Christmas day actually wasn't bad(for me at least,) I have always been a quality over quantity person, that extends to presents as well. I always asked for one good present and let my parents come up with the other stuff, so I would get a decent amount of your standard presents, and then one or two really good presents that most people have to buy for themselves, and if you were a kid only the spoiled or rich kids got.

The other thing is that since that is all I have ever know, I have nothing to compare it to, so I can't really say whether I would have got more presents, but is still much rather have one or two quality presents over ten everyday s***.

Anyway, back to my main point, take your birthday, say it's June 9th, would you give other people presents on your birthday? 99% at least would not. For the first 18-19 years of ny life, I felt like this and refused to buy other people Christmas presents. I'm turning 30 tomorrow, and I have to say I am happy that I no longer think like that. I find it more enjoyable to grant other people some small piece of happiness most of the time, also since I have a bad habit of buying everything I would want for Christmas or my birthday myself.

Oh well, enjoy this Christmas everyone, if the Mayans are correct, it'll be out last one.

If some conspiracy theorists are correct, then the dark ages never actually happened. Which would mean we're closer to the year 1712, which means we've still got hundreds of years before the world ends.

I'm just not a big fan of presents in general. I see people freaking out over giving somebody a gift for Christmas, and all I can think is "Why?" It's kind of grinchy, but I choose not to give anybody Christmas presents, or really birthday presents. If I care about them, I'll let them know. I spread my displays of affection throughout the year, not just wait until the designated gifting times. Of course, having this mindset means I don't want to receive presents either.

Maybe being like this evolved from hating the stresses of having to find a gift for someone and risk them not liking it, but I just think it's easier this way. I much more enjoy showing somebody I care through words and actions rather than material gifts.

Do you have Christmas dinner and then birthday cake after? Because that'd be kind of awesome.

Also yeah, if your family is good about not stiffing you, then having a birthday on or near Christmas isn't too bad because then you can ask for something that's too big for either one separately, like a brand new console or a fancy bike or whatever. And I think that's something a lot of kids at least thought about, asking for something huge that would be a birthday and Christmas present, but if you have to wait several months that never works.

At first I would say it's a little rough for a kid not getting any presents for a year, but then I realize that my birthday is in April, and there was pretty much never anything cool out by then that wasn't out around the previous Christmas. Though I do think late October might be a great time for a birthday, at least from a gaming perspective. It's far enough from Christmas that people can't get away with stiffing you with a combined present, but it's close enough that it cuts the holiday release season right in half.

That was the big drawback, having to wait a whole year between days that I received presents, doesn't bothers me now.

^5 Zazi. I still give pretty lame presents like gift cards, but I'd rather presents on certain days just didn't exist. I'd be fine not getting another gift in my life.

I'm with the Zaz as well

Also with something like Valentine's Day. Okay, so you have ONE day out of 365 in the year where you pretend to love your significant other, and then the rest of the year you're off the hook? Or you can be the best boyfriends for 364 days of the year, but if you do nothing on this one particular day you are suddenly the worst boyfriend ever? Sure, it's great for the economy and great for lazy/bad lovers, but I can't seem to convince myself that this one day is that much more special than the others...
