SPOILERS
the writing quality just keeps dropping. dexter's internal monologues haven't improved and every time you think his character is about to take a turn (think mid-S4, when he kills the innocent guy) we just bounce violently back to status quo.
there are just stupid moments. there' a scene where dexter just randomly stumbles upon a cuban illegal immigrant smuggler robbing his crew and then he stabs him through the back. it's just absolutely random and adds nothing - stuff like that will happen a lot.
it looked like it had promise but turned into every other dexter season, but not as good. there's one decent twist in it (which the internet guessed early on and added to the hate for the season) but even that aside - it wasn't that good.
but yeah, there's a game-changer.
