Or rather, this mid-gen sort of thing we have going on. I feel like Sony is the obvious frontrunner, despite what sales say. I can't really see how one can logically prove that Microsoft or Nintendo has Sony beat, sales and pricing aside.

It's a little early to be saying that about Vita, especially with the whole system failures thing.

Yeah, the PS3 is awesome sauce and has been selling at a faster rate than the 360 over its lifespan. Vita is icing on the cake.

So you're basically saying that the PS3/Vita exclusive games trump the exclusive games from the other systems on some objective level of quality then? Because I'm not sure how you can say "excluding sales." That's generally how winners are determined in these things. Nintendo sold the most systems overall, the 360 is the most popular right now, Sony is 2nd.

To be fair, sales between the PS3 and 360 worldwide are virtually equal. It doesn't get mentioned much since the internet is so US-dominated, but Sony and MS are evenly matched right now. What will happen between them in the future is anyone's guess, as is whether the Wii U and 3DS will be as successful for Nintendo as the Wii and DS have been.

In other words, Sony only wins if you don't focus on the fact that it's losing on the most important aspects.

I mean strictly from a gaming perspective. Sales and pricing are simply business, though I stand confident saying that Sony offers the strongest combination of gaming products.

Okay then. "Sony systems offer the best gaming experiences this gen" is certainly a thesis worth debating, and many people would agree.

The topic is just kind of weirdly structured.

In terms of sales and pricing, I am pretty sure the Wii wins for consoles this gen. I hope you people who think sales and pricing decides the winner in your minds stand by the wii.

True, but if you limit it to the very recent past (i.e. the "half-gen" you referred to in the opening post), then the 360 is winning.

Of course not.

Sales/pricing of a console HELPS though if you want access to good games without mercilessly bankrupting yourself though.

I've played my PS3 the least simply because its library just doesn't impress me. It shares a lot of the same games with the Xbox, and for exclusives, there's very little PS3 has that interests me.

You can't really say PS3 is the best out of the three outside of sales because that's really just a matter of opinion.

Which is why once you add PS Vita into the mix, Sony wins. Unless, however, you think Kinect somehow pushes Microsoft ahead.

In my opinion, Sony has the best sales numbers.
